the restaurant salon is quite formal, but since it was a nice warm evening, we decided to eat a l’exterieur with a view of their beautiful gardens. the service was exemplary and between the English and the French we managed without problems. the food was of the very highest standard and both my man and I decided for one of the daily special filling of lamb with basilikum, seasonal vegetables and home potato croquettes. it was really excellent and we both agreed that it probably prepared the finest restaurant that we ever had. to dessert my man had the ice and the Meringue-Terrine, and I had been flaming in grand marnier. both were excellent again. the bill was expensive, but worth every penn...

If you are in this area, you will not be disappointed. A supplier of ours takes all her internaitonal customers here. It is literally down the hill from a cathedral which is half in France and half in Belgium.Pros: excellent food expertly prepared, warm homey environment like you are eating in someone's formal living room, beautiful garden out back, comfortable bar across the entrance.Cons: little English spoken, paced service, parking on the street (but easy)

this place is a hidden gem. we landed there after a long walk in the parc naturel of the plaines de l’escaut. the garden was so well structured and preserved that the tasty lunch was made even better.
