"Very good food but the service should have been better: we had a reservation and the restaurant was by no means full, but although promptly seated we were not offered a drink or a menu for several minutes and the bread did not arrive until we were finishing the main course. I was served the wrong entree, ie not the oysters I had ordered. Each dish was meticulously described by the waiter but parrot fashion and at machine gun speed."

I've had a love affair with this restaurant for many years, enjoying its superb location which is as good as the pictures suggest and generally excellent food during its good times and even during its more recent difficulties. It's never really let me down and has probably served me the best turbot I've ever eaten. Not now, though. We ate here on two consecutive nights and if the first was good enough, with some imaginative dishes well presented and served by a good waiter, the second was shameful. Uninterested staff who just put plates down on the table and walked away without a word was the least of our problems; I can never recall being asked previously in a restaurant whether I thought the turbot I had ordered was a meat or a fish. This was because they had cooked two portions of veal instead of the dish we'd actually ordered. No apology was offered for this or for the assumption that the English might not know what a turbot was and when the turbot did eventually appear after an unforgivable wait it was very much the piece the chef would normally have thrown out and so poorly cooked (or not cooked) that it was like chewing rubber. We rejected it. Nor did we feel like waiting even longer for a replacement. The kitchen that night was clearly staffed by incompetents and it was better simply to sigh and move on. We were charged for the full meal, regardless. No one cared. Such a shame. Reading some of the French language reviews on TripAdvisor is instructive. We didn't do so until after this poor experience. However, some do very accurately capture some of the problems we noticed. It really does feel as if you're being served anc cooked for by catering college students.

A return to Les Venettes after a period away reminded me why this is one of my favourite restaurants in which to eat in France. We’ve visited here three or four times previously and I’m pleased to say that the high standards we’ve witnessed are being maintained, even though they are facing the same problems many restaurants in both France and the UK are experiencing, particularly on the staffing front. You wouldn’t have known this from the great service we had; I discovered it through chatting to them. Of course, one of the strongest draws here is the superlative setting and magnificent views. Eating on the terrace here is memorable in itself. Views from the main restaurant are only marginally less good. The food maintains its exceptional standards and an asparagus starter here with morels was one of the great dishes of my life. The crab ravioli was excellent, the lamb very good. My wife’s monkfish was superb to look at and taste. Desserts were beautiful. The wine list offers variety at all price levels and our young Collioure was a great find. All in all, a very memorable return from the lockdown. Chapeau.

Small hotel and restaurant, by the sea. Staff is young and dynaMic, the hotel belongs to a parisian owner , with brand new ideas, to make the place , a gastro restaurant. My opinion is, food is quite nice, with innovative ideas, that sometimes should not be converted into a dish.. simplicity works best. However, staff is great, and professional for some! The rooms of the hotel are simple, and would need a bit more decorum and warmth, but ,location is unique, so, in the end, you cant have it all.

Gourmet Restaurant with a delicious Menu Homard; Amuse-bouche, Cerviché de Daurade with Caviar de Concombre and piment d 'Espelette, Blue Homard from Brittany au beurre de corail et estragon , and a choice of 2 desserts. This dinner of saturday November 13th 2021 was stunning, with a very charming and professionnal staff, and the owner always present to help. 3 languages spoken; French, English and German Icing on the Cake; order and taste the white wine Savennières; it is fabulous
