I've had a love affair with this restaurant for many years, enjoying its superb location which is as good as the pictures suggest and generally excellent food during its good times and even during its more recent difficulties. It's never really let me down and has probably served me the best turbot I've ever eaten. Not now, though. We ate here on two consecutive nights and if the first was good enough, with some imaginative dishes well presented and served by a good waiter, the second was shameful. When you live in Brixham saying that a French restaurant serves the best turbot is taking a risk. But two visits to Le Venetes, a couple of years apart, convinces me that the turbot this chef sources and his ability to cook it to perfection justifies the claim. It’s served not as a fillet but a steak and a pretty hefty steak at that. Forget about dessert! On this occasion it came with some great, seasonal girolles. We were booked in at the last minute as the other waterfront venues were full. I suspect this was down to price but after our meal, the lowest price menu at €49, we were so wowed we considered it excellent value for money. The staff were extremely polite helpful and professional. One of our group needed a gluten free diet and they ensured this was the case and checked every detail. The extra courses eg amuse bouche were just as delightfully presented and as delicious as the listed courses. The hotel and restaurant are in a beautiful, quiet setting. The hotel Reception is rather quirky, not exactly friendly nor helpful but it sort of grows on you. The suites are lovely. The views both from the restaurant and the suites are gorgeous.The restaurant is simply delicious. The maitre d' is a bit like the hotel manager/owner, not exactly friendly but he also sort of grows on you. We stayed for 2 nights as part of a mini tour of Brittany and it was certainly the highlight of our holiday. The location is unique, right on the waters edge. The food was sublime and very good value. Our double aspect room was spacious, clean and comfortable. And the staff were helpful and friendly. There was a misunderstanding regarding our table seating for dinner on the first night but full marks to Antoine, the manager, for his help in retrieving the situation, and ensuring that it did not spoil the rest of our holiday. All in all… superb.

Small hotel and restaurant, by the sea. Staff is young and dynaMic, the hotel belongs to a parisian owner , with brand new ideas, to make the place , a gastro restaurant. My opinion is, food is quite nice, with innovative ideas, that sometimes should not be converted into a dish.. simplicity works best. However, staff is great, and professional for some! The rooms of the hotel are simple, and would need a bit more decorum and warmth, but ,location is unique, so, in the end, you cant have it all.

Gourmet restaurant with a delicious menu homard; Amuse-bouche, cerwitsché de daurade with caviar de concombre and piment d’espelette, blue homard by brittany au beurre de corail et estragon , and a selection at desserts. this evening of Saturday november was breathtaking, with a very charming and professional staff, and the owner always present to speak; French, English and Germanicing on the cake; order and taste the white wine savenières; it is fabulous

Nous avons choisit ce restaurant pour la fête du 15 août, la vue sur le golfe est en effet très agréable, dommage que le soleil n'était pas entièrement de la partie. Pour les mets et boisson, de bonne facture, cela change des menus habituels, mais les portions sont un peu congrues compte tenu des prix pratiqués. a beautiful place and fabulous plates. And all that doesn't matter. lobster was a real pleasure, accompaniment, desserts (see all pictures). We came with Bretons in a business meal and frankly there is nothing to say.
