When you live in Brixham saying that a French restaurant serves the best turbot is taking a risk. But two visits to Le Venetes, a couple of years apart, convinces me that the turbot this chef sources and his ability to cook it to perfection...justifies the claim. It’s served not as a fillet but a steak and a pretty hefty steak at that. Forget about dessert! On this occasion it came with some great, seasonal girolles. a return to les venettes reminded me of why this is one of my favorite restaurants where I should eat in France. we have visited here three or four times before and I am pleased to say that the high standards we have experienced are maintained even though they face the same problems that many restaurants experience in France and Great Britain, especially on the personal front. they would not have known this from the great service we had; I discovered it by chatting with them. we were booked in the last minute as the other water parks were full. I suspect that this was up to the price, but after our meal, the lowest price menu at €49, we were so sown that we made it an excellent value for money. the personal. was extremely polite helpful and professional. one of our group needed gluten-free nutrition and they ensured that this was the case and checked every detail. the extra courses as well as amuse bouche were presented as delightful and as delicious as the listed courses. we are seafood lovers and the fish dishes were all top notch, but so the steak abd was the escape. the wine was also delicious: the muscadet. all this was a perfect evening, as photos will show...

After the happiness of having lobstered at some places all over the world, the lobster meal that was served us at the hotel/restaurant les venetes was the best of all time. at the end of a road along the river is the hotel/restaurant... right next to the water. the quiet, relaxing and well furnished rooms are welcoming. the restaurant is amazing with so brilliant aromas to the sauces and innovative textures. the restaurant is on the expensive side, but the price-performance ratio, since everything is unforgettable about the place. the walks along the coast are beautiful and we will be back. thanks for a wonderful stay.
