Ate here recently and as there is only a set menu the choice is really limited. The starter was average but the main was inedible. It was meant to be a Thai chicken curry but the sauce was a pink colour with uncooked spices which made it taste gritty but the worst thing was the chicken, which had been added to the sauce afterwards and was dry, burnt and basically inedible. The waitress was friendly and they did take the price of the meal off the bill but really guys. If you are going to call something a Thai curry then at least make some effort to cook with authenticity and loose the cold baby tomatoes added to the sauce at the end!

L'escalier provides a delicious menu with interesting choices for those looking for something a little different deep in the heart of Perigord. The venue is full of quirky charm and perfectly placed in the buzzing little town of Verteillac. It has a cute terrace with a great ambience which, during the summer, is usually bathed in sunshine. The service, was prompt, professional and good humoured from the attentive bi-lingual staff. The food was yummy and prettily presented - stand out - the cucumber and mint gazpacho with wasabi ice cream.

Generally disappointed with the food in France. Not of the standard of 20 years ago and I am a pretty easy going foodie. This was the best of a bad lot. Salmon was fine but the sesame rice was tasteless. Hubby hated the warm curried complementary olives. His burger was quite nice. Chips were dreadful. Soggy and burnt, sprinkled with sesame seeds. Deserts were lovely. Service was good but as said before generally very disappointed.

A small restaurant in a little town. Very friendly staff who accommodated us on a last minute meal. We both had the burgers - home made - tasted beautiful - good quality ingredients. High end prices but worth it! Would recommend a visit.
