I ate here while travelling solo for business. Having walked the main old street, L 'etoile looked to be the busiest so I went in. The front of the restaurant is more of a sit down bar and there is a small dining room towards the back. The staff seemed to know everyone else in there by name and you always have to like the place the locals choose to eat. I had the hunters dinner which was so filling I had to decline dessert. The place is not trying to be anything that it is not its a genuine, local bar/restaurant, but the food is good, service was friendly. I 'd recommend it

We had visited the lake on a Sunday and were looking for a nice quiet restaurant. We also wanted to try the fondue. We only spoke English but were able to communicate even though the staff's English was limited. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. Several locals were eating at the restaurant. Wir, meine Arbeitskollegen und ich, gehen seit 2006 in das Cafe in der Grand Rue zum morgendlichen Kaffee. Es gibt dort am Morgen Baguettesbrötchen mit Salami oder gekochtem Schinken für 2.50 CHF ,dazu ein Kaffee für ganze 2 CHF. Natürlich gibt's auch Croissants etc. Dabei kann man(Frau) verschiedene Tageszeitungen studieren. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und aufmerksam.

Das L'Etoile ist und bleibt ein absoluter Geheimtipp. So unscheinbar es auch wirkt, aber es bietet eine ausgezeichnete Küche. Frische und leckere Gerichte. Ob Pasta, Pizza, oder Steak, alles auf den Punkt gegart. Dazu kommt ein netter und zuvorkommender Service. Preis-Leistung ist ebenfalls top. Ich war nun schon dreimal dort Gast und stets mehr als zufrieden.
