I have always loved Lilotang and as I live near by I have been many times but our dinner on Tues 30 March was disappointing. We chose to have the “feed me” menu which was rattled off without a copy of the chefs selection in hard copy which irritated me to start with. The first two courses were minuscule and consisted of a teaspoon of fish that had been over marinated and was soggy. Then they had a kitchen problem and the deep fryer was and unavailable. So rather that our tempura vegetables we had a generous portion of grilled prawns nice but a strange substitution. As we did not have a menu to refer to somehow we ended up with three different meat courses including two wagyu. It was un balan...
Unfortunately we had expectations of Lilotang based on our experience of its previous incarnation, before its post-Covid transormation. Then it was subtle, with subdued lighting, sophisticated and knowledgeable waiters, and refined, complex cuisine. Now it is bright and loud, with food that has slipped down the culinary ladder. We did enjoy our sashimi, but the pork belly robata was tough and gristly, the charred broccolini just that, with the charring resulting in an unpleasant rather than enhanced flavour. The staff were enthusiastic and helpful.
Staff were friendly and the atmosphere was elegant but fun. I was expecting serving sizes to be smaller but they were really quite generous. The tuna and salmon raw dishes were exquisite and the Wagyu Scotch and Popcorn Shrimp were both delicious. We wouldn’t order the fried potato or BBQ corn next time but that’s more of a personal preference.
Always an excellent place to dine, food is superb and staff are helpful and friendly. Only disappointed in the music it was too loud (table vibrating from bass) and nightclub atmosphere. Staff kindly turned it down, which was appreciated but hard to have a meal with friends when you cant hear each other.

The restaurant is nicely setup. Service is quick, very friendly and helpful. We had a selection from the a la carte menu and enjoyed every single course. Drinks menu is excellent. There's something for everyone.
Great food, wine and service! However, as how everything goes in Canberra, it’s pretty pricey! As in more than Syndey cbd price! Ironically, it’s a city of public servants, not bankers.
Food was a let down. If the prices were a little cheaper it might have made a difference but the ambience could have been better also. Staff were friendly and provided great service.
We each had the wag you beef bento box. Excellent…not crazy about the edamame beans, but otherwise very pleased.
