I blame myself I should have listened to the warnings from people we know who live locally. However, I was seduced by the pretty courtyard and the good reviews and when I booked, I checked that they would be able to provide vegetarian options I mean, how bad could it be? As it turns out really bad. The food itself, as long as you don't have any dietary requirements, is ok, if a little bland and under seasoned. The vegetarian options were, for starters, the dishes on the menu, minus any meat or fish, e.g. mushroom veloute, minus the smoked duck breast. Ok, we thought, perhaps they'll pull something out of the bag for the main? Nope my vegetarian guests were presented with a whole carrot accompanied by some vegetables no sauce just a plate of vegetables. It was embarrassing. I know that we're spoilt in London, and we're quite a foodie family so have been to some amazing restaurants, but, given the location, I would have thought the chef could have come up with something a bit more imaginative to celebrate the incredible, seasonal, local produce available to them? My main criticism of this restaurant though was the service not that it was slow, but that the front of house staff were absolutely vile. They were rude and arrogant and clearly under the misapprehension that it's a much better restaurant than it actually is. One server (the maitre d'? in particular, could barely mask his disdain and at one point, he and his colleagues huddled around together, looking at us, cackling away and making sure we knew the joke was on us it was an incredibly uncomfortable experience. When I tried, ever so politely, to offer feedback about the vegetarian option, he was dismissive and said that he wouldn't expect to be offered a meat or fish option in a vegetarian restaurant... Eh? I don't normally write negative reviews and would normally prefer to provide feedback face to face, but it wasn't an option on this occasion. I'm not sure whether anyone else has had this experience was it because we were English or our table included people of colour, vegetarians or women who challenge? I don't know and I don't care but @Lily and @Paul if you are real people and own this business, you should care and really need to know how you're being represented by your staff. Honestly, we couldn't get out of there fast enough! For visitors to the beautiful village of Bedoin there are some great restaurants: Le Lutin Du Ventoux, for example, La Gousse d'Ail and our absolute favourite, Le Bistrot du Large.
