First of all, this restaurant DOES NOT have a bar. They have a wine list, but you are able to bring your own liquor (hard liquor, beer, and/or wine). My mom and I shared a bottle of sangria, AND we were able to take it to go when it wasn't finished. It came with fruit on the time and a pitcher of ice. It was BOMB.com ! I started with some lobster bisque. DELICIOUS! This was so good that my mom got her some to-go. Nice pieces of lobster and the soup itself was radiant in flavor! A truly wonderful meal and experience at Limani, and as you can see from our review history, we have been to scores of restaurants over the past 20 years for a comparison base. This was our first time here (this restaurant came onto our radar as it had good reviews and met the key criteria of being halfway between the Jersey Shore and our friends from North Jersey). The hostess welcomed us and seemed to sincerely want the four of us to enjoy our dinner. The decor ambience was very pleasant and upscale but not stuffy. Absolutely average food and service. Prices high simply because of location (Rockefeller plaza) where they'll get tourists anyway. Nothing stellar about the ambience. Servers felt like they're doing you a favor and just interested in rushing you. Had to ask them for bread, didn't bother to explain the specials etc. Food was beyond disappointing. Both the saganaki and the fish (and accompanying sides) were overcooked and oily. I've had great Greek food in Greece but also in smaller NYC restaurants. Definitely Avoid. Excellent place for fresh fish. If you're like me and enjoy the entire fish, this is their specialty. Superb service. I loved how many times Christine came to touch the table and take care of us. The best seafood in New Jersey. We travel an hour to this place and it is always worth the trip. Every dish we have had was cooked perfectly. The service is great as well. Food and service here are always the best around. They pay attention to the details. The food tends to the sweeter side of the palate; not overwhelming but worth noting.
