Having dinner at this place it 's some sort of tradition amongst my closest friends. The owner had a lovely small bar called Café Le Fou in Tarragona were we used to go for our first drinks before partying. It had such a special atmosphere: with wooden dark walls, lots of smoke and candles, old movie posters and great music. We were so disappointed when it shut down... But Lo Gat is just the same, but in the form of restaurant. It has the same great atmosphere, the candles and some of the same posters. We really feel so comfortable there, everyone is so nice and kind (although they are always super busy), always had excellent experiences eating there. The food is quite simple but there 's a lot of choice. You have a wide variety of salads and toasts (torrades) and a good amount of regional wines. They are all very original and tasty. Desserts are also quite good and homemade. The best is that you can have dinner with wine for 10-15€ and positive vibes for the rest of the evening. Highly recommended if you love mingling with locals when you travel.
Lo Gat is a nice, romantic place in the old town of Tarragona, tugged away in a little side street. There is an informal atmosphere, with stone walls, old movie posters and candles on the tables. This is where you go for a romantic night out, or to catch up with friends. The salads are nice, and there seems to be an unlimited choice of toppings for the Torrades. This is not just a small meal. There is a nice selection of wines to choose from, all served with a frank smile. If you are in Tarragona on Thursday night, it is tapas night in the old city, and you can get a teaser from what they serve, together with a drink, for only 2,50 euro.
