We went with friends and their 2 teenage kids. They’re a challenging family food wise 1 very particular vegetarian who doesn’t eat eggs or cheese (unless it’s cheddar), 1 lad who only wants steak and chips, 1 lass who, like her dad, hates butter and cream. It’s always difficult to find a place where everyone gets to order sthg they want to eat, let alone sthg they actually enjoy eating. I never normally leave reviews but felt compelled to on this occasion as we were so disappointed by this restaurant. First off it is overpriced with most main courses over 30 Euros. We didn’t mind this as a treat but were expecting exceptional food. However, this was not to be. I ordered my favourite dish… a fish stew £35) which I awaited with anticipation. To my disappointment, it was completely tasteless… they might as well have thrown a few prawns and bits of fish into some dish water and served it to me. So good that we dined there twice in four days! A great location at the top of the Chaudannes chairlift. A large bar and self-service area which was always busy and serving excellent food. However, for us it was the restaurant that we wanted. It is warm and cosy with a real fire but avoids being twee. It is accessed through the self-serve area and there is a large terrace with views too although this was out of use at the time we visited. The front-of-house staff are all friendly and very efficient and speak excellent English if you require. The menu choices are varied and beautifully balanced. After a morning skiing our family of four eagerly looked forward to some warming and nutritious lunch. It was very busy which sort of gives you some expectation the food will be good.. So two bowls of French onion soup with croutons and cheese , plus two spaghetti bol , it came to 64 euro . The soup was barely warm it looked like the brown water you see in your washing up bowl , Almost no onion , no taste and just awful. The kids chose spaghetti bol which was overcooked pasta , a small blob of meat and sauce they said it tasted like a cheap supermarket frozen meal .
