Hubby and I decided to revisit the restaurant for lunch after our original visit in the summer. The restaurant is styled like a safari lodge and overlooks the zebras, antelope and gnu enclosure, which is pretty neat. The place serves steakhouse fare, pretty much in line with what you would expect from a good steakhouse in the US. Along with that, they have a cheeseburger, a pasta dish, a chicken dish, a crab cake appetizer, and a selection of salads on the menu. The "Lodge" in Kronberg is indeed a good restaurant, no question. It does not live up to the expectations though created by all the great reviews available.The quality of food is good, but I had better steaks. The service is good as well, but on the other hand I experienced more attentive staff. And since this is supposed to be one of the best Steak Restaurants in this area, I have to compare to other, similar locations.And based on that, even though everything is "good", the overall experience was just average. The value you get for your money is poor, which reduces the overall rating. While I would be willing to accept prices for the (quality of) meat served, sides to your main course are...

After a visit in the Opel-Zoo, over which you have a nice view in the restaurant (if you want to be seated at the window you will have to make a reservation), we decided to have a nice, but small lunch. So we went here for a pleasant surprise. The card offers a wide variety of dishes with the main courses all rotating in some form or another around beef – nice American beef – perfectly prepared!I had eaten a variation of yellow fin-tuna as a starter which had three different small presentations of it with a very interesting in taste and structure. The restaurants specialty is definitely beef steaks, American style, which you don't fid too often in Europe. They bring a huge tray to the table and show/describe T-bone, Rib-eye, filet mignon, porterhouse for two (almost 3 pounds of uncooked meat!), Chateaubriand and a few others which I cannot recall. They offer them in different sized portions, 2 or 3 options. We all chose the filet mignon. The knife slid through the meat and I am not a good enough writer to describe the way it felt in my mouth. We spend the days with our little one @ the Opel zoo and afterwards with some friends for dinner @ the LOGE – In fact: I was surprised about the service, the quality of the food and the service. All steaks (I had 500gr steak and the cream potato) and burger are excellent, the other side and dishes (my wife had something called salad) – really good, even the service was as good as you can expect. Next time I hope to get a table near to the fence, so you can see the animals even better. Thanks to the Lodge team for a nice evening, we will come back soon again

I should say that I have no problem at all paying silly prices for good food or a good evening. Unfortunately, the quality of the food does not justify the high prices charged at the restaurant. Given it is a steak restaurant one would expect that the steak is prepared to a high standard. All I can say that I have had much better steaks at Block House for a fraction of the price. Our steaks were extremely bland and overcooked. I didn't finish mine and I still feel slightly nauseous today. Also, the restaurant is always uncomfortably warm.

If you are a big steak fan then here you will not be disappointed. Their meat is really good and the side dishes too. Don't miss their homemade lemon sorbet / colonel. Probably wise to book in advance. Grab the first empty parking space otherwise you may end up having to make a large detour to get back to the entrance again. A location for that special occasion but priced accordingly. Service is good but they have to keep a lot of tables happy, so grab your chance and be ready to use it !

...having lunch in the sun while watching the giraffes and other beautiful animals walking around in front of you is an experience of its own...the food was ok, portions big (a lot of chicken on that Caesar's salad), taste good but not extraordinary with the exception of the Cremer brûlée as dessert. Will definitely be back to enjoy the views in the afternoon while enjoying a nice drink... Reserva una mesa ahora

Located next to Opel Zoo we decided to dine in The Lodge after our zoo-trip and we liked it a lot. We had the filet steaks with quite a few side dishes and it all was delicious! The service was nice and forthcoming and we felt very comfortable. Only downside were the restrooms: overflowing towel-bins, dirty floor, basins and stalls. Not cool! :-(

really great steak restaurant outside of FF city. Once you have tired of the pork knuckle, sauerkraut and sausages head others for a great steak, great service and perfect location.
