From arrival to departure, the attention to our comfort and enjoyment was unstinting. Friendly barman, who made excellent cocktails and very welcoming Maitre D ' who oversaw the food service (and knew everything about the dishes 8 course tasting menu, veggie and non veggie). A panoply of tastes, textures and beautifully presented dishes unfolded, each building on, and contrasting beautifully with its predecessor. Flavours abounded and surprised the palate at each turn, yet everything tasted 'as it should '. My highlight was the red mullet in a 'nage ' of rhubarb and lovage oil, yet nothing could be faulted. Food was terrible, Luke warm and tasteless. The service was slow and graceless. The ambience was stuffy and stultifying. The decor was tired and dated. It was like stepping back into the worst of the 1980s pretentious and pompous. Ludicrously priced. I have had better food in several local pubs. To be avoided.
