If I could pick just one place to eat Carnitas Tacos from for the rest of my life, it may be Los 5 Puntos in East Los Angeles. Their venerable Carnitas Taco does not belong in 2020, it belongs in a museum. A reasonable argument can be made that it 's already there, given that Los 5 Puntos has been cranking out Carnitas Tacos for over 50 years. Their carnitas are straightforward, derived from pork shoulder that is more sturdy than fatty, and without the textural contrast of crispy ends made popular by the various 'designer carnitas ' destinations that are popping up everywhere. The 5 Points. Los 5 Puntos is named after the five way intersection it is located at. Just outside the LA City limits adjacent to Evergreen Cemetery. A neighborhood tradition for generations.Like a big Mexican deli with a free parking lot.Not a sit down restaurant, you line up to buy tamales, masa, menudo on the weekends, carnitas, guacamole and other bulk items to go.

Best Carnitas Handsdown! My family has been coming here since the 70s to the present and truthfully, they are still as delicious as my father remembers them being as well as my self. Definitely worth the drive
