My wife and I went on a Friday night before our movie. It was a redemption attempt after a 5 year boycott.I agree with the general consensus of the critical reviews: the food (and especially the beans) is bland overall. If you use the salsa the flavor is good, but it 's like they are afraid of salt.The service is meh. The order taker was friendly enough, but the expeditor (who give out the orders) was not friendly at all. They weren 't rude to me, but I did observe them give major attitude to another customer for seemingly no reason.They were very busy. The trash was overflowing, but the tables, chairs, walls, ceilings, and what I could see of the food prep area were actually quite clean.
This restaurant is quite disappointing—definitely the worst Mexican spot on the island. I wanted to give it a fair chance and visited multiple times, hoping it was just an off day, but unfortunately, it turns out this is their standard. The customer service was lacking, and the food was barely edible. I had to wait 20 minutes just for a plate of tostadas. If the food had been even remotely good, I wouldn’t have minded the wait, but everything about this place was disappointing. I won’t be coming back and cannot recommend it.
Quick and welcoming service! I had a craving for Mexican food, and this restaurant really hit the spot! It's a great representation of the Tex-Mex experience here in Hawaii. You order at the counter and choose your own seating. The atmosphere is nice, featuring some really cool artwork. The owners are wonderful people; the man even came out to greet us and shared the heartfelt story of how he and his wife started this place. It was truly touching. I will definitely be returning!
With limited choices here in Kona, it’s nice to have a consistent. We love the food, service and chill atmosphere. Plenty of inside and out seating. Many people do to-go orders. Steak quesadilla and chicken chimichanga are delicious. Staff are always kind and helpful. Almost always a line and wait is usually under 20min.

I don’t know what all the bad reviews are about but we ordered the crispy tacos, taquitos, Al pastor tacos and a wet bean and cheese burrito. It was all delicious and tasty! Hands down the best crispy tacos I’ve had and we are from California. The service was friendly and fast as we took our order to go.
Worst churro in the history of churros! Felt like a dog bone yes, it was THAT hard) the veg burrito was okay very bland though enchilada was average good rice and beans and chips kinda soggy. Would not recommend Vegetarian options: Some vegetarian options but food is overall bland
I was extremely disappointed with the burritos and ended up throwing them away. It felt like a waste of money. I've never encountered food of such poor quality before. I'm really surprised by how they managed to get such a good rating on Google.
The woman who manages the cashier has a poor attitude and is extremely rude to customers. I wouldn’t recommend spending your money here. Additionally, the restaurant is quite dirty. Overall, I definitely cannot recommend this place!

Delicious veggie and bean cheese tacos! The buñelos actually have honey! They have Maui ginger beer.
Great place for some decent Mexican food and there is never much of a crowd
