Los Sombreros Mexican

Very surprised! We were passing through and google map searched and didn’t have high hopes. This place isn’t much to look at, especially from the outside, but our food was fantastic! For reference, we eat out Mexican more than anything, and we love authentic Mexican food but are down for the American tacos etc. too. The free salsa was actually excellent! We asked for salsa picosa and received three to try. The creamy green once was excellent, and the habanero was good too. My hubby’s American style taco was VERY good, the meat was perfect! We’d have ordered just these had we known, but his Chile poblano had the same meat and this part of his dish was delicious. The tamale wasn’t anything to write home about, but my shredded beef flautas were yummy. Even the beans and rice were flavored very well! Usually I skip these sides because they are so bland but not here. We will be back, possibly even on this trip. Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

Great work staff and excellent food. We have frequented this restaurant often when in the Bessemer, AL, area. If you're sensitive to your sodium/salt intake, be cautious.
