One of my good friends is a tiki aficionado and this is his favorite tiki bar! I was happy to finally be able to come and pay this spot a visit with him and my goodness the VIBES HERE ARE BEYOND IMMACULATE! What's a word that could describe something more perfect than immaculate? I can't think of one, but whatever that word is Lost River is that vibe!! From the moment we walked in, they had Gilligan's Island playing and projected onto one of the walls, a smoke machine puffing out smoke every 5 10 minutes (we stayed here for several hours and it got increasingly smokier and smokier as it got darker and darker as well LOL, but the smoke never bothered us and added some seriously delightful amb...
The overall theme and décor of this restaurant are truly impressive. With netting on the ceiling, fog machines, swamp lamps, and pictures of the swamp monster, it creates a unique atmosphere. However, the unpleasant odor that greets you as soon as you enter is quite off-putting. My friend and I waited about 10 minutes before a server acknowledged us. When our drinks finally arrived, they came with a rubber chicken that looked dirty, and it was actually floating in our drink. Went on a quiet Thursday night. Our waiter was Amelia. Very pleasant. Drinks took about 10-15 mins to get all 4 made. They were delicious but way too much ice. I wanted to order another round but when I asked the bartender if they could do less ice or use regular glass cups I was told no (with no explanation or solution) . I know it’s a tiki bar but I am very particular as a ND I like regular glasses to see my drink. I’d go back and maybe speak with a different bartender. I love the decor and vibe! They didn’t have food but Amelia said we could bring in food. Next time that’s the plan. Check them out!
Wow this is just a little bar but great place to go. The two bar tenders who were there are absolutely amazing I came on a Saturday and showed up right as they opened at 4, I was not the only one to do this. This place seems like it would be an amazing hangout place with the view everywhere to the great ambiance. One drink was worth the price from the detail they put in to create it and adding their own flare of art each cocktail was made with love and that is for sure. Fun tiki themed bar in Detroit. Lots of cocktails to choose from with tiki-style glassware. Each drink is unique and the bartenders do a great job with the presentation! They could chill out with the fog machine, it's a smaller space and it gets to be a bit much at times.
