we visited lou portaou for my wife's birthday negotiations. the ambiente and the location in a road tunnel formed by arcades, supporting the irradiated building 2 to 3100 years old is excellent. all 7 of my party chose together almost everything from the menu and nothing...seriously disappointed. in the act was the main and only critique that the parts were too big! the amuse bouche was a joy, my terrin was well cooked and soft and the bark en croute superb. an amazing garlic kartoffel dauphinoise and medley of baked vegetables ended a very satisfying main meal. the sweet tasters were around a hit. friends who have houses in lavandou and were impressed with us. we have all added this jewel t...

I am so glad that I preordered lou portaou a few months ago when I planned my trip to bormes les mimosas. I had no warning from the village, and the restaurant would be so busy. it is easy to see why this beautiful restaurant is on. each evening was full. Apart from being visually stunning, the service and hospitality in the precursors of an old castle is exceptional and eating is delicious and plentiful. we were so glad to have secured our table reservation and would recommend lou portaou to anyone who likes good food. Nothing pretentious, simply generous help from very delicious Provencal life served with warm, friendliness and good explanation of the menu.

We arrived with no reservation but were given a table on an outside terrace with lovely surroundings. The food was very good and quite unusual for the South of France....amazing amuse bouche with cumin, then I chose a fried chickpea starter and my wife had...spaghetti with clams. Both delicious. Next the most tender fillet of beef en croute. Melt in the mouth. My wife had the gastronomic dessert while I had marinated goats cheese on a homemade biscuit. Outstanding. Local Bregancon wines. Wonderful meal with very friendly service.

It has become a tradition to eat here as a family in the last week of our holidays. Food and service always great. Looking forward to come back next year!
