I went out with some coworkers, and we ended the night at this place. It was last call, and I wanted to get a water for one of my friends because they clearly needed it. I asked the blonde female bartender for a water, and she said it would cost $3. I thought, "Alright, no problem," so I gave her a $5 bill. After a minute, she turned around to see if I was still there, and in my mind, I was thinking, "Yes, I'm waiting for my change." I always tip, even for something small like a bottle of water. I waited for her to give me the change, and she handed me just $1.
The atmosphere reminded me of a CTA bus stop. It wasn't solely due to the loud woman in a bathrobe at the bar, who was obnoxiously shouting on her phone and at the staff for at least ten minutes. The sticky floors contributed, too. The music created an odd vibe, jumping from 80s synth pop to classic rock, then abruptly switching to aggressive gangster rap and Adele—like listening to someone's 2009 iPod shuffle. The female server behind the bar tonigh does not want money slow service I sat there for exactly 25 minutes and they never asked for our orders at the bar! She said wait on the other server he is on break he should be back soon after I told her we were there 20 minutes. And when we first got there asked for water and never received it! Went here as a last minute decision. Have never been to this Bar Louie and don't see any reason to go back. Walked in and it's an outdated atmosphere, service was not great as there were six of us and they forgot one person's food completely. Waitress didn't even notice and we thought maybe it's just behind a minute but a few minutes later we reminded the waitress and then they made it. Went here to have a drink on a Saturday night. There were two birthday parties. Good vibes, good food, some drinks okay, slot machines. Definitely a must if your staying at the hotel. Ordered hot wings, loaded fries, pitcher of pineapple sangria, hellacious mango margarita this drink was spicy and hot I didn’t like at all. I recommend this place!
Best hotel bar I've ever been. Absolutely perfect size, great drink and draft selection, menu was somewhat sparking but the this was excellent. After about 10 the atmosphere would turn more on edge. I attributed this to it being in Chicago but still a definite must visit. Also located next to one of the best pizza shops I've ever eaten at.
I was only disappointed because I called a couple times about there being a cover charge for NYE and was told no. Only to find out it was $75. But me and my family made the best of it and turned the party out.
Mixed experience. Very friendly service and they tried hard. Calamari wasn’t great. Boneless wings were pretty small. The steak sandwich was tasty. The chicken Parmesan sandwich looked amazing too.
