Lyndhurst Jerk Gyro Spot

First time trying this place and it was interesting. We ordered the chicken kabab platter with fries and the jerk chicken platter with rice and peas. The chicken kabab was nowhere close to what a kabab should be. It was just chopped chicken placed in a container with some pita and fries (frozen ones from a bag). Fries made with freshly cut potatoes have a different texture and isn 't devoid of flavor. Kabab is supposed to be skewered and grilled. This wasnt. Anyhow, as someone born and raised in the Caribbean, I like good rice and peas. This rice and pea, however, was just ok. The jerk chicken had flavour but it wasn 't spicy as the authentic variety should be, which is understandable when you are catering to different palates. The steam veggies was bland. Based on reading other reviews and seeing the replies, I am not sure the owners consider these reviews as beneficial. I probably should have read the reviews before I purchased. How can you advertise yourself as Mediterranean and not have Baklava? That 's one of the most popular Mediterranean dishes. My Turkish friend would be livid. With that said I can 't give them a 1 but can 't give them higher than a 2. My advice would be don 't be a Jack of all trades and a master of none. Work on either producing great Caribbean food OR Mediterranean food. Trying to do both isn 't working. Service: Take out Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $10–20 Food: 2 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

Wow I just left this place 5 minutes and I'm already dreaming of going back for more! I have to say this was one of my favorite meals I have ever had and I am truly amazed out how nicely the blend of flavors came together in my meal. I saw the really high ratings on Yelp and it came up early in my search, so I said to myself this will be tonight's dinner spot for a quick and casual meal. I love a good jerk chicken so I decided to go with the jerk chicken platter which came with rice and beans, French fries, and sweet plantains. The spice level, flavor and seasonings were all to perfection! The meat fell off the bone so easily and was so tender and juicy. The pairing with the rice and plantains was unbelievably good....the words here can't do it Justice. The portion for $15 was very generous too. I got a can of strawberry lemonade with it too which was a really nice touch to the meal too. Ambience here is very casual but they have plenty of seating too if you want to dine in real quick like I did. The staff is super friendly too. I am 100% planning to come back in the next few weeks to bring some family and friends....cannot wait!
