Madison Bagel Cafe

In my experience, this is the only local bagel place that is consistently good at online pickup orders. They don't make me wait in line to get a pickup order like other places do. Bagels are consistently in stock, rather than leaving options online that aren't being produced. For this alone, I am a repeat customer. The bagels are decent, but not mind blowing or anything. The donuts on the other hand are great. Before this place came along, I waited years for there to be a place like this near Madison. I don't endulge often, but it's been a good experience every time. Customizing my own donut is fun, even if I mostly stick with the more tame configurations.

First time trying the place and I ordered 3 bacon egg and cheeses all on different Bagels. None of them were in the least bit appetizing. The bagels were terrible, stale is a compliment to these bagels. Any other bagel place in the area has a better bagel than that. The egg was very below average as well. It was overcooked and looked like it was microwaved. Moving on there was nothing to identify as cheese on any of the sandwiches. Save your money and go to literally any other bagel place in the area.

Although the service was excellent and Wolanssa was particularly charming, I was let down by the food. The muffins and coffee stood out as the most disappointing items. How can you offer a "banana nut" muffin without any banana or nuts in it? The muffin itself was dry and uninviting, while the coffee tasted like burnt baked beans steeped in bath water. I'm eagerly awaiting the arrival of their espresso machine, but for now, I'll be sticking with Bagel Chateau.

Favorite Bagel place for breakfast and lunch. The kitchen staff is so warm and welcoming. Adrianna at the counter is also great. If she says good morning, it makes my day. She really does the place. The Bagels yum yum yum. Many seats that are constantly wiped. Roasted blueberry bagel with light butter or roasted cinnamon sugar with bright cream cheese are my favs. The Burritos are also legit! Not sure what is going on with this place but the staff isn’t as friendly as they used to be and they stay burning or over toasting their hard as rock bagels. This place used to be good but not anymore.

Large portions, good food, and nice environment. I would recommend for the $1.50 design-your-own-cake-donut feature alone!
