Magoo's Grill - Reservar una mesa

My family said god things about Magoo?s Grill, so we met there for dinner on their famous Prime Rib Thursday. We sat outside where there is a small patio area that was thankfully heated. The food was pretty good, however the service was lacking. I realize there are many establishments that are short staffed, but we really felt ?forgotten? due to being outside. We asked for hot water, I think when they first came to hand us the menus, and we were brought an empty mug with a lemon wedge. It took us 30+ minutes of waiting with our menus before we finally got up and went inside to ask if we could place an order for food. At some point mid meal we were told someone would bring out the hot water....

Worst thing about the place is blowhard patrons loudly holding forth about their fantasy football picks. But it's a bar with a soft sports theme, so what do you want? Small enough to be intimate, large enough that it doesn't feel claustrophobic. The wait staff have an excellent attitude are reliable, and prompt. They have *superb* fish and chips, which is one of the dishes that I rely on to indicate the overall quality of the food at a given restaurant. It's a very hard dish to get right, they hit it right on the button, and that skill and quality carries right on through to the rest of their food. Got a refresh. Ordered a beer looking menu, opted for fish and chips and substituted perpetrators for frits on the board I saw nearby. The food came as described with Cole Slav. What a disappointment. Menu Description Sierra Nevada Beer Broken Fish? No. What I got was more like deep roasted bread crust fish. 3 pieces about the size of 2 fingers. Usually I would have to order extra tarter source.... Not this time enough fish to use half a small spice cup. When the food arrived, I sat in search of my food for more than 10 minutes to see if the server would notice my disappointment. She waited until I went out of food and drink to ask how I did. Unfortunately I think I may have gone in on a bad day. The drinks just weren?t up to par, and the food. The food tasted old. Ordered what was supposed to be a whisky sour and it came out on a tall beer glass?weird? Then noticed as we were eating the bartender had their foot on the counter where the alcohol was. Honestly. This was enough for us to not go back. I hate leaving not good reviews. Everyone was nice, but unfortunately nice doesn?t always mean good or quality. I?m sure their meals are great. Appetizers. Not so much.

Magoos is the entire package. I come here with friends for our religious breakfast club every Saturday. The greatest service provided by Molly the hostess with the mostes. She is mostly what makes Magoos the best environment that it is. She very funny and on top of what needs to be done. I've seen her handle the bar at almost full capacity and not a single person was forgotten. The foods amazing too. It's definitely a place to be.
