My last Indian restaurant review was Nirvana in Vienna (see "This Nirvana is Hell"), which I would give a zero rating if I could. Maharaja is in the small town of Stein. The old joke, as you know, is "Stein und (and) Krems are three towns". Near as I could tell, the town of Und was one block long, as Schillerstrasse turned into Undstrasse which turned into Steinerstrasse. Follow Steinerlandstrasse (the main street through Stein) to Rathausplatz and there is Maharaja. The service was fast, my food came quickly and it was excellent (some chicken dish with lots of vegetables and spices). The server even came up to me later and asked if the food was good (that doesn't happen in Europe very often...
I was so excited and pleased when I found out there was an Indian restaurant in Krems, so I had to try it out. "The taste of India is in Krems". The food was so amazing, full of flavour, zest and life. So fragrant and flavoursome that you will certainly be back for more. I have to say its one of the best Indian food I've ever had. I am a regular customer and just love the food, service and great friendly atmoshpehre. I'm looking forward to my next visit already. In my opinion, the best indian in the whole of Austria. Recommend very highly. Enjoy :)
We stopped by for lunch by chance as most other places in the area were closed - it was a good decision. Although we only sampled a small number of dishes, they were excellent and appeared more authentic than what I've tried anywhere in Vienna. The service was polite, friendly and efficient. Recommended.

Great food! Real true Indian flavors and very good prices. The waiter was very kind and friendly! We really loved our dishes! We're probably going back there tonight! Can't wait!!!
The restaurant had decent Indian food. The service was good and the restaurant was spacious. Quite close to the St Nikolaus Church.
