Sad experience. Poor ambience overall. Entrance blocked with chairs, not sure why. Kids commented that music was dull and boring. More importantly multiple plates were unclean with food particles stuck to the plates. Salt and pepper shakers were dirty from prior use, not sure when they were last cleaned. The server looked like she didn't want to be doing what she was doing. No greetings or checking in between. Before bringing in 2nd round of food, didn't bother taking away the unclean appetizer plates first. Food was OK not great. The vegetable Biryani was honestly bad, didn't taste anywhere like what a biryani should be.
Dining at this restaurant is fantastic! We ordered the vegetarian appetizer and the Huh 65, both dishes were perfectly cooked and the flavors were exceptional. For our main course, we had the Dinner for Two combination which included butter chicken curry, butter lamb curry, and chicken curry. It also came with naan bread, rice, and dessert. For dessert, we tried the fried sweet cottage cheese balls, which were delicious. Every penny was well worth it. I highly recommend giving this place a try. The service was outstanding and the food was exceptional.
I don't know how anyone can give a good review for this restaurant . Giving a 1 rating just coz cant put a review otherwise . The entrance was blocked with chairs and we thought we had come in at the wrong entrance . And then a very rude lady showed us to a table . Waited for like 15mins for them to come and tell us that all of the staff were having lunch and it would take another 15-20mins for them to come and take the order what?? ok the food was not great either . Both ladies serving us had a terrible attitude Not going there ever again !! . Phew!
The Chicken Tikka Masala was okay. However, for $18, I would have expected a larger portion size. There were only about 10 to 15 bites of chicken in total. I would not order this dish again, mainly because of the small serving size and high cost.

Naan is perfectly soft, and all the curries are balanced wih good spice levels. Lots of great options, and very few poor options. Malai Kofta hits the palate well. So far, the best North Indian cuisine I have eaten in Madison.
We always order from Maharani for Indian food delivery. The quality is great, consistent, and the food usually arrives promptly. Our favorite dishes are the Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Saag, Rogan Josh, and Kabuli Naan.

I absolutely adore this restaurant. It is hands down the best Indian food spot in Madison. My favorite dish is the lamb.
