When I was there this quint and cute sushi place was orchestrated all by one person — tables, bar, and kitchen! Obviously the proprietor of the joint, he managed everything elegantly, smoothly, and quiet courageously, I might add. The menu is fixed and utilizes local organic vegetables and fish. There is no à-la-carte sushi and one cannot make up his/hers own combination. Still, the sushi is fresh and well cut and prepared, albeit not very imaginative: ingredients could be a little more daring. All in all, a very pleasant and good experience. Option for vegetarians as well. A platter of sushi, served on a surface reminiscent of the local omnipresent black basalt rock, of about 15 pieces+sala...
We had high expectation when our friends recommended this Japanese restaurant in the town of Le Puy , near our vacation home. The food was ok for a « french » Japanese, but the service marred the whole experience. When we arrived the waiters were enjoying a drink among themselves....why not it was July 14th. However throughout the meal they were busy throwing corks at each others, or greeting their mates on the opposite side walk, when not picking their nose in between serving tables. When we left they were still enjoying their drinks. In addition the bill was about double what you would expect for your very average french Japanese. We won’t go there again.
My friend and I tried this place out after reading good reviews and now we understand the hype. A small restaurant but perfectly decorated with a great assortment of fresh fish which changes daily. The owner and chef, Alexi, was a spectacular host and was very kind to recommend other places for our road trip. I look forward to coming back to Maki Nova!
We were a family of 5 and we had a great time. The French auvergnat chef is also the waiter/porter/sommelier. Knows Tokyo way more than he knows paris. Japanese sushi, sashimi and Maki with French fish. Bio ingredients and cuisine done to perfection. I absolutely recommend.

Me and my sister had been driving fron Seté that day and wanted to treat us. What a treat. The owner and cook was great. He both cookes and servises. The food was to die for and everything clean and cosy. The wine was also very good. Highly recommend Maki Nova.

Delightful. Delicious. De wonderful. A fabulous introduction to real sushi for us. Great food served with love and understated panache. And the WC is a work of art : !
