I visited Mala for the first time about four years ago and recalled finding it decent, though a bit oily (typical of dry pot cuisine). Recently, I returned to explore more of their menu. While I didn’t enjoy everything I sampled, I felt that some dishes could have benefited from better seasoning, and the dry pot was rather greasy. On a positive note, the noodles we tried had a lovely cumin flavor. The skewers were crispy but lacked flavor, and I found the cabbage dish a bit too sour for my taste. The dry pot was okay, but I’ve definitely had better elsewhere. Overall, while I have other favorites in the area over Mala, it remains a solid option for this type of food!
The best restaurant in Boston! The food is absolutely delicious, the staff is friendly, and the service is fast! You won't find more flavorful dishes anywhere else. Be ready to join a waitlist since it's usually quite crowded, but the wait is always worthwhile. I highly recommend the Dan Dan noodles, Mapo Tofu, and either the Green Beans or Eggplant, though you really can’t go wrong with any choice!
Every single thing we had was sooo good. Old noodles was very fragrant and flavorful. Mala is just amazing. Dumping wrapper were just 10/10 and meat skewers were just perfectly cooked. 10/10. Service is extremely fast. There is gonna be a long wait time so make sure you check in and join the waitlist from Yelp before you head out.
we?ve been going to Mala for years now. i occasionally try other schezuan restaurants but they have nothing on Mala. everything tastes soooo good here, definitely worth a try. i dont think i will ever find a place that will match up to the flavors Mala brings to the table.

My fav place in the whole world. Best mala dry pot place in Boston. I always come here w friends and share a large dry hot pot. The portions and price is the best in the city and it’s delicious. Highly recommend. You order w QR code at your table.
This restaurant is a great choice for groups, thanks to its ample seating. The portion sizes are quite good for the price as well. Just a heads up: the food has a sneaky kick, so if you're sensitive to spice, you might want to be careful!
Best food outside of Sichuan I’ve had in the US. Great quality, large portions, awesome taste. It fills up so aim for an early dinner if you don’t have reservations. Highly recommend the eggplant and the mapo tofu.
I was truly impressed by this restaurant. The stir-fried noodles and the stir-fried fish fillet were bursting with flavor, and the portions were among the largest I've ever encountered. I highly recommend it!

The Szechuan Beef Noodle Soup and Mapo Tofu are absolutely essential dishes! My partner and I really enjoy visiting this restaurant for a fantastic meal.
