Right.. I don’t know if anyone else has noticed this or if it’s just me. Firstly I’m not that type of person to write reviews on places however I thought it would be nice to share my thoughts especially on my regular Indian. The ease...of the lockdown restaurants reopen to dine in was great news. Before lockdown as a normal weekend we’d normally go Malik’s for our regular Indian however since the lockdown eased off I’d noticed a slight difference in service also less staff (understanding less customers less staff) I genuinely thought after my first visit back it’s been that long since being able to go out maybe lockdown has messed my head up. The food was nice so because of that reason I didn’t really think twice. Couple weeks later we returned with friends (who are also regulars at Malik’s) and this time I’ve noticed a slight change in food, firstly I thought they changed the chef however I never bothered to ask the waiter as the food was nice it wasn’t a big issue however I definitely noticed the change in service same as I noticed this when I first returned, considering it wasn’t as busy (due to social distancing measures) I asked my friend and he also noticed the same when he came before and again with us. Surely less customers, less pressure, better service however the service to me was better before the Pandemic. Yes the food was nice but for me the service has also got to match in order to have a fabulous evening. Since we first tried Malik’s couple years ago we have stuck ever since however now hmmm.... As we knew most of the waiters before there was only one waiter left who we knew “Jimmy” so I thought I’d ask him when I get a chance, however most of the time he’d be in the kitchen so hardly got a chance to speak to him I never raised the question, it felt like poor Jimmy got to much on his plate rushing around everywhere. Another waiter we knew was “Immy” who we knew from Blakey’s, we haven’t seen him since lockdown eased restaurant reopened for dining in, not to sure if he’s on furlough or has left (Hope not). Before this Pandemic Immy Jimmy were the regular main waiters on the weekdays, often we’d come on the weekdays for a quiet meal them two always be there making sure the evening was perfect. Even on weekends before the pandemic no matter how packed out the restaurant was they’ll come and say Hi, quick couple of seconds chat before they rush off back to work their customer service was on point. In all fairness it feels like the management has changed, the boss “Saf” who used to be behind the counter we haven’t seen him either, he’d always greet us with a smile while waiting for a taxi sometimes we’d have a lovely chat, he’d always ask how the meal was etc... I’m hoping when this pandemic is over everyone returns we’d love to have a good catch up have a proper evening back at good old Malik’s To everyone reading please don’t think this is a negative review, the food is nice however a little improvement on service is needed overall out of
We ordered for delivery through Uber Eats. At the time of placing the order the estimated delivery time was minutes. Once the order was accepted this changed to It eventually arrived after mins. See screenshots showing order was still being mins before it was due to arrive! The chicken tikka sagwala arrived as plain chicken (see photo) and the jalfrazi' that arrived was anything but...no green chillies, contained chickpeas and Pineapple?! The food was so bland and flavourless we couldn't eat it. Will not order from here again.
I last came here in and my review wasn't great, mainly about the service. Well what a change. From the minute we entered the staff were attentive and couldn't do enough for us. Service excellent and for all five of us the food was...tasty, fresh and just what we wanted. Its not licenced, but they provided jugs of water and opened my friends Prosecco I had a red wine) I have to say we couldn't fault it Excellent service and tasty food
