Last week, my husband, Mike wanted a quick dinner in Canberra's CBD/Civic before heading to a theatre performance. His favourite club was crowded, so he tried Mama's. He enjoyed the food and wine so much that he booked us in for dinner on Saturday night. We had to take an early reservation, 6 pm on a Saturday night, as Mama's was "booked out" from 7.30 pm. No problem! Earlier suited us and was probably an easier time to find a car park. Mama's claims to be traditional Italian, and indeed it is. I dined here after a recommendation.2 adults and 2 kidsWe got the following:4 x pastas1 x Eggplant dish1 x Garlic bread 1 x Salad1 bottle of win2 digestives2 gelatos2 coffees All for under $150 and we were loaded.We got in early at 5pm to miss the rush.Decor is basic but it had old classic Italian tunes in the background playing. Reminded me of n old school trattoria Portions were solid, flavour was good. Price was on the money.We will definitely return when we visit again
We had dinner as part of a group of 14 who were celebrating a friend's birthday. The service was prompt and very friendly and professional. The food was excellent. I can't comment on the atmosphere if attending for a quiet dinner as a couple as being in a group that was not easy to assess, but the restaurant was comfortable, and we will definitely be going back again.
Visiting Canberra with my mother and daughter we wanted Italian food within close proximity to our accomodation and here we discovered Mama's. Thankfully I had booked as it was a busy night. Service was great, nothing was a problem for their efficient friendly staff and the food was fabulous. Would have no hesitation in recommending or revisiting this restaurant.

I have not had such scrumptious lasagna for a long time. I picked at my daughter's spaghetti carbonara, it was yummy too. The gnocchi looked delicious too, but I was too full to try. All dishes were generously served. There was a variety of choices on the drink menu. Friendly service and relaxing ambience. Everything was good on the day.
I haven't been to this place for years (for no particular reason) and decided to go here on a Thursday night to catch up with a friend. We had the chicken with marsala sauce and the gnocchi. Both were delicious and gobbled down. The service was good and the prices were reasonable. I'll be back.
The food here is great, it is not a pretentious menu just excellent Italian food . Service was excellent , the young man who took care of us was very professional and nothing was a problem.
Way overpriced and the food was terrible, please do not waste your time. We had the large platter (pictured) for $22!plus garlic bread and spaghetti. It was all very poor quality.

Stopped here for lunch during our travels, what a nice surprise. An extensive menu of beautifully cooked wholesome generous meals, packed with flavour. Try the polenta dish.
I enjoy Italian food and this is a very charming restaurant with a delicious looking menu. I will need to return and work my way further through their menu.
