This is our 2nd time visiting Mao's after a disappointing first experience I thought we'd give them a 2nd chance. Perhaps not.If you are looking for quality service and reasonable tasting food I'd suggest looking elsewhere. We waited at the front desk for 5 mins waiting to be seated in an empty restaurant whilst the take away orders took priority. Eventually we were seated and our orders taken. Meanwhile as a few other tables were seated (only 3 whilst we were there, not surprising) they all received their meals before us. Finally, after asking, our mains arrived hurriedly minus 1 meal they forgot. The food was average, the ambience is nice with a beautiful outlook over Corrigans. This place...
We had a delicious meal at Mao’s. The fish cakes were moist and full of flavour. The red curry beef had a rich and tasty sauce, albeit a little less spicy than I was expecting/had hoped for. The beef was tender. The favourite dish of...the night for myself and my friend was the Pad Preow Warn with mixed seafood (a stir fry with sweet and sour sauce, pineapple and vegetables). The sauce was sweet but not overpoweringly sweet the flavour of the seafood and vegetables still came through. Our waitress was attentive and friendly and the meal arrived quickly. While the restaurant is plain to look at, there are views to the bay. Note that there are no split bills at this restaurant.
Just wanted somewhere easy and nice for dinner, read many reviews of several restaurants around and also what was open. Came across Mao's and was very nice, the staff greeting was great, presentation and seating was great, every seat had water views, menu was great...variety and catered for a large range of taste buds from hot spicy to not hot or spicy food. Dish prices was really fair, with size and presentation good value. Staff was very nice friendly and service provided was impeccable. I look forward to dining again really soon. Very highly recommended.
We waited over an hour, with minutes of that in the restaurant and it was cold when they gave it to us. Meals were bland, overpriced and cold. Do not recommend. Meat was tough and noodles had all stuck to the bottom of the...containers. Do not recommend at all. mussaman curry was watery and had no flavour.

Just the best Thai food in town and consistent with Mao herself always hovering over the woks. Enter from the rear where there is always plenty of room in the Batehaven carpark. Corkage is cheap and the bottle shop a few steps from the entrance.
Excellent food. Particularly liked the curry puffs and chicken wing entrees. Had currys fir mains. Really appreciated that their currys had lots of colourful veggies as well as meat. Sauce nice and thick. Well done Mao’s! Shall be back.
Had a lovely meal, the environment was good, staff were polite and efficient. The food was excellent we had laksa and very suitable providing good choices for my vegan sister-in-law. Car parking at the rear of the property.
Brilliant Thai food. Pad Thai is so good, and the sticky mango rice for desert is the best I have had outside Thailand. Lovely view from the restaurant across to the beach

Really good service, friendly staff, beautiful food. My husband is still talking about his Exotic Seafood dish. Highly recommend this restaurant.
So slow!!! Took a whole hour to get just our drinks and nearly hours for our main meal and the place was barely even busy
