Marcellina - Reserva de mesa

I used to frequent the original Marcellinas in Hindley Street during my uni days. It's been decades since I'd been anywhere near Marcellinas and in going back recently it's good to say that some of the basics never change. What has changed is the menu is now more extensive but still manageable. The basics of great pizzas and pasta dishes remain and with the addition of a gourmet line of pizzas there's even more yummy stuff. Service was friendly and welcoming, the place neat and tidy and the wine list more than adequate. This isn't fine dining but it doesn't pretend to be. It's great cafe and takeaway meals. Went to this newish place on Semaphore road for a quick Thursday night meal. We were one of only 2 tables at 8pm so it wasn't exactly busy. However the service was good, and the food came out quickly. The pizza was delicious and the risotto that I had was very nice without being exceptional. The prices are very reasonable for what you get. However our entire experience of this venue was ruined by one thing. The entire time we were eating there were several people outside at the rear of the restaurant (possibly staff I think) who were all smoking. I am a semaphore local and try to eat at all the local business'. This place was unacceptable. Ordered take away. Full meal of garlic prawns came with 6 of the most malnourished prawns I have ever seen. Absolute joke for $30. Pizza was rubbery and bland. Thank god for my Tabasco sauce. Garlic bread ****. $60 I would have rather given a local business my money who at least make an effort to provide quality food. Shameful.

We went here when the place opened last year and were very disappointed in the quality of the meals but thought we would give them another go. The place is not particularly inviting, tables up close to counter , kitchen or doorways although there is another room up a few stairs but this makes you feel very isolated. We shared an Adonis pizza, with artichokes. Tasty but not enough to make me want to come back Reserva una mesa ahora

Very good and perfect! Just done right, I can hold up a slice without everything slipping off the base. Base was crunchy but also light and toppings were evenly portioned, real ham also not shredded processed rubbish. Highly recommended.

Excellent consistent pasta - good food, good service, well done. Not sure about dine in as we live local and have just done take away - but the food is good. The locale, naturally is excellent, being on Semaphore Road!

Pizza certainly not up to the traditional old Hindley St Marcelina. Ok bit ordinary but close to Semaphore movies. Not worth a special trip. Nice staff. What else can I say! Wine and beer expensive but very cold.

Hits the spot after a few beers and a short walk from my hotel, is the only winner for me. With the name I expected a European Italian experience ? But no, Reserva una mesa ahora

We love this pizza. We have tried a variety of different toppings and they are always fresh and good quality. Service is always good.
