This was our first visit to this exceptional restaurant, and it certainly won’t be our last. As soon as you step into the room adorned with checkerboard tablecloths, you feel the charm of an old country café. The menu is straightforward yet caters to a variety of tastes. Since it was our first time, we decided to try their house Black Angus burger with French fries. Both were delicious and juicy! We particularly enjoyed the fresh-cut fries with the skin on.

If you were to ask me, in my opinion, Marco’s Northside Grill is a great choice when deciding on a place to eat when in Highwood, IL. Everything is cooked fresh, made to order, and tastes delicious. The fries are blanched, homemade, and the best you have ever had. I have tried a variety of their options, and have never been disappointed. The fried mushrooms are my favorite. Marco’s is one of the finest restaurants I have patronized in a long time My only regret, is there aren’t enough Marco’s. But thank God there is as least one. Was not happy with the wings. The menu says extra jumbo wings so I was excited to actually get a decent sized wing. I was wrong because what I got were small winglets. They were not jumbo at all. I only ordered the wings because the menu said extra jumbo. They even have on the online option for wings that says We mean it! regarding the extra jumbo. Very disappointed,. I would have liked it to honestly just say winglets because I would have known what to expect.
Friendly service and a fun place to hang out, we enjoyed the bingo game too. Based on the other ratings I honestly had much higher expectations and wanted to like the food more, but its only average bar food. Marco's is a fantastic spot in Highwood! The atmosphere is laid-back, and the food is simply delicious. I particularly love their burgers, turkey club, fries, and cheese curds! My friends have tried the wedge salad and other dishes from the menu, and they were all impressed! The inviting ambiance and the consistently friendly staff make it a great dining experience!
The Mardi Gras season has arrived! I'm enjoying a delicious jambalaya prepared right here in the restaurant. Marco is genuinely committed to supporting local live musicians, and he is an excellent and inviting host.
Unfortunately, I have to mention that it seems this restaurant has closed down. The owner had mentioned this possibility before, so it's disappointing to see them go, especially since they had a successful run.
Friday is the perfect spot to enjoy! The outdoor seating, accompanied by Frank Sinatra's music, combined with delicious food and wine, creates an incredible atmosphere.
