Marden Tandoori - Reserva de mesa

Have only ever visited once before but many years ago. At the time the interior was like a throw-back to the 70's. We liked it. I recall the food being good. Big contrast now. Contemporary and tssteful interior but the food was awful. If my experience was in any way typical I have no idea why there are so many good reviews. I know curry, having been cooking curries for over 40 years and sampled the fare widely in London's many excellent restaurants and take-aways. Across all the dishes blandness was the name of the game. Two dimensional and notable particularly by the absence of any hint of chilli. Service was good but doesn't compensate for terrible food. Had a takeaway from this restaurant whilst staying away at an Airbnb with my wife. Ordered through Just eat, and delivery perfectly within the alloted time. I was completely surprised... Every mouthful was full of flavour... Nothing was over spiced, and all important ingredients could be tasted... Absolutely cooked to perfection. My wife isn't a great Indian food lover, but even she remained speechless at the incredible flavours that had been delivered. I cannot rave enough about what was delivered to us. If we are ever back in the area we will definitely be using them again.

Not sure how they did this, but they managed to cook food without any taste. The sheek kebabs tasted of mince meat. I know that is what they are made from, but where are the spices? Chicken madras didn’t fare any better as the chicken was tough and didn’t impart any flavour from the sauce. We were in midweek and the only people there for 30 mins, so atmosphere was lacking to say the least. The staff barely said anything and came across as miserable and unfriendly. Won’t be rushing back in a hurry, especially with much better options locally.

The standard of food was below average, some of our main courses arrived warm rather than hot, as they should. When this was brought to the restaurants attention they didn’t digest the feedback well, particularly the manager (dressed in a hoodies not usual attire you would expect to see) who advised us to not come back again. I can only put this down to inexperience in the hospitality sector and poor customer service skills. Ordered a standard,spiced vindaloo dish, meat was generous but flavour was limited. Have tried this restaurant on and off to give it a chance over the years, but finally have to give into a truthful review that the food is really not a great experience!! A real shame.. but if you like great curry, go to the taj of kent restaurant which is also in the village.

Visited Marden Tandoori last night with my husband. It was the first time we'd been there, and it definitely won't be the last. Had the gourmet night dine in special. Plenty of food, rich flavours, and staff so friendly.

Enjoyed a delicious meal here with family and had a lovely evening. Everyone enjoyed their meal, portion sizes just perfect and incredible flavours. Will be returning again soon.

food is brilliant, has improved greatly. friendly service and atmosphere. short 5 minute walk from the train station.
