This restaurant was like stepping back in time, and we had a fantastic visit with Marlain. The acclaimed chef was very nice, patient, and informative. We tried his homemade chocolates, which were excellent. He also offers a variety of chef-prepared frozen meals to take home at reasonable prices. We tried the Beef Bourguignon for $10, and it was delicious - easily serving two people. We also made a side of mashed potatoes. Marlain offers a range of French classics such as quiche, duck confit, lamb, and chicken specialties, which we are excited to try in the future. I have bought Marlain's chocolates for decades now. Marlain strives for perfection and keeps upping his game on the quality of his creations. He is always happy to see and serve his clients. Beware that there are some risks to giving his chocolates to people... If you give a box to a couple, it can create fights between them so you have to buy 2 boxes. If you give to a box to a client, you run the risk of them asking for an extra box for their spouse... So it can get expensive!
The staff at this restaurant are very friendly and they make delicious homemade chocolates. We particularly enjoy that the chocolates are bite-sized. My partner is Belgian and loves chocolate, so we appreciate the high quality of the chocolates here. While the prices are on the higher end, we understand that good quality Belgian pralines can be even more expensive. We feel that supporting local artisans is important, and we are happy to do so here.
I stopped by to get a present for a friend and got a second box for my husband and I. So glad I did! The owner filled the box with a wonderful variety of really wonderful chocolates- they tasted so delicious compared to the usual higher end boxed chocolate that's out there. You may pay a bit more but it is completely worth it. The owner told me they will be celebrating 30 years soon...Here's to 30 more!

Having just moved from Belgium and struggling to find good quality chocolate, I was told about this place. I went and bought a variety of Easter chocolate figurines both milk and dark. When a chocoholic 7 year old and 9 year old tell you their is something off about the chocolate and leave it to go play instead, sorry.... really wanted to like it but not possible.
We were told about this place by some chocolate connoisseurs who said that we absolutely had to go there. We had been driving past for years and never noticed it. The proprietors are wonderful people and the products they make are top notch. So many fine options so creative. This is our go to spot for chocolates and confectionery!
We frequently buy from Marlin for special family occasions. Our daughter from Ottawa always have to visit Marlain when she is here. We like several of his cakes but partial to his excellent 'Opera Cake '. His 'Chocolate Covered Gingers ' is a special treat! We have also tried his dinners very nice. We are fans!
The handcrafted chocolates at this restaurant are excellent, with unique options like chocolate covered orange rind that stand out. In addition to sweets, they also offer homemade hot sauces, pre-made main dishes for takeout, and facial creams. Highly recommended!

One place I love to shop for gift giving on special occasions. Their chocolates are very good and I recommend their mango jelly it's delicious!
