Maroubra Saltwater Quality Seafood

The food was disgusting. Never have I got fish, fried OR grilled that still had the skin on. Skin on fish is cheap food and that is what this place is serving. The fish was tasteless and soggy. To be honest i don't even know what type of fish it was, all I can say is that it seems to came from the 99c bargain bin. Never again, there are far better places for fish. Crazy Chixs up the road makes a great fish..and they are a chicken shop. The only reason i went here tonight is I felt like seafood with my fish. BIG MISTAKE.

Needed dinner a bit later than usual. Saltwater open until 8pm. Staff very obliging, ordered flathead and chips special deal. Asked if I could eat in, not a problem, I had 20 minutes to finish. Got through the fish which had beautiful batter but not overly white flesh,mdecided to take chips with me for a walk along the street window shopping. Owners encouraged me to stay to finish. Very nice of them. Would go again.

Good crisp on the fish and calamari, suggests good oil and temperature. Cheap fish and very thin calamari though. The prices are about equal to the cheapest in Coogee but I'd still expect cheaper back here unless they use better quality stuff.

We ordered calamari and chips and the king prawns and chips! Both meals were fabulous they definitely impressed, the calamari was although big very very tender and yummy. The prawn cutlets were very large fresh and tasty too.

Best value/taste takeaway seafood joint in the east. Calamari is to die for. Phone ahead to avoid a long wait as this place can be busy. Don't be fooled by the no frills shop fitout, the food is delicious.
