Really sad to make this review as we have eaten in this restaurant a few times and my family members eat here a lot! Tonight we ordered a take away for delivery at 6pm, told will be with us 35-60mins after 90 mins I called the restaurant to see where the order was to be asked numerous times did I call or order through a take away app, then asked at least 10 times for my address they couldn’t find my order even though I told them that they had taken the money from the bank, spoke to a manager no idea either! Having lived most of my life in Wolverhampton where there are extremely good Indian restaurants I have some idea of the standards we should expect. This restaurant (which does not have a licence to serve alcohol) fails to attain any sort of standard. My wife and I ordered poppadums’ to start with but at £2.00 for chutney we did not order. Sadly it appears the trick spreading though most Indian restaurants, that of bringing the chutney regardless and charging for it, has reached Newport. We usually order a takeaway through just eat. tonight we waited 2 hours for our food, and we were greeted by an extremely rude driver who said he was waiting at the top of the road for 20 minutes with no attempt to find our house. the manager of the restaurant was extremely rude and borderline shouting at us down the phone when we requested money back. Our food was cold and we had to reheat when it arrived. We used to recommend this restaurant to neighbours etc., but won’t be doing this again!
Two hours after ordering our takeaway, it was finally delivered. Usually I’d pick up but I thought we would try delivery… never again. An email stated that it had left the restaurant at 19.15, we received the delivery (after two phone calls) at 20.55. Absolutely shocking service. Can’t believed we paid and waited. A group of us came here last night for our Xmas meal. First class service (thank you to Dil and Ahmed (I only got their names) The food was lovely. Pleasant atmosphere and lovely decor. Very reasonably priced. We took in our own alcohol (not sure if it will be licensed in the future)...so a cheap night for me! Oh, ..and the toilets were spotless (so important I think)!
