This restaurant review is very disappointing and not recommended. When we arrived, the bar was very quiet, but it took a frustratingly long time before a waiter came over to assist us. The drinks we ordered also took 20 minutes to arrive, which makes us wonder how long they would take if the bar was busy. While the cocktails were okay, the staff did not seem knowledgeable or interested in providing good service. The decor is outdated and the overall atmosphere of the bar feels tired. Additionally, a 12.5% service charge was added to our bill for what we felt was poor service. Overall, we do not recommend this establishment.
We decided to stop in for a pre-dinner drink of gin and tonic. The service was incredibly slow, and it took longer to get our drinks than it would have taken to cook dinner ourselves. After our order was finally taken, the waiter returned to ask if we were ready to order again, along with another couple. Despite there being four staff members present, none of them were making drinks, leaving tables of customers waiting. One group even left without being served. The staff seemed disorganized, clueless, and lacked any sense of urgency. We couldn't help but wonder where the manager was during all of this chaos.
I had a terrible experience at this restaurant. The service was awful, as the waiters didn't know the drinks they were serving and had trouble understanding customer requests. The drinks were not served from a tray; rather, they were just carried around in glasses, causing them to drip on the table. There were no placemats provided, making the situation even worse. This used to be our favorite place to go, but after this experience, we will not be returning. Overall, it was an extremely bad experience.
We arrived after spotting the sign in the pouring rain and were immediately impressed. The first waiter showed us to a table and asked if we’d like the air conditioning turned down. He came back swiftly to take our order and then returned with delicious cocktails. A second waiter came before the glasses were empty to collect our next order. He was friendly and chatty and spoke to us about the cocktails. We were really impressed and will absolutely return when back in the area.

Popped in for a nightcap whilst staying at the Strand Palace. Great atmosphere, charming staff and fantastic cocktails. However, noticed on my credit card that we'd been charged for someone else's drinks as well as our own. Contacted them with a copy of the bill, and within a few days, had a refund for the mystery drinks plus the service charge. Which despite everything I would still have been happy to have paid. Thank you Gin Palace.
Had a few vouchers to spend on my last night at the hotel and thought I'd split it 50/50 between the restaurant (Haxells) and the Gin Palace. Ended up with more gin-knowledge, and more drinks than I thought. The bartender knew his trade, and I may even have to try making my own now! For a mild introduction I loved the Icelandic cocktail on their menu.
Drinks were ok. Ambiance/location is great. Service was terrible. 3 guests and 4 waiters doing nothing. Very arrogant and unfriendly. We didn’t feel comfortable in this place.
Popped in for a cocktail with family great atmosphere and friendly helpful staff. Good service and delicious cocktail. Would recommend

Great bar with a touch of class and excellent cocktails. The staff really do make you feel welcome and service is excellent.
Over 40 different gin and other beverages. You can find a lot of different possibilities and wide taste.
