We booked this months ago, knowing the history of the restaurant and having eaten in a few Nobus and many other Japanese restaurants before so we were expecting something great and memorable! We were very surprised and, whilst it may sound harsh, underwhelmed and disappointed. We were seated outside, under a canopy/tent, in the extension of the restaurant. I stress 'outside ', with only two heaters for about 20 tables. It was freezing! We were very cold and the staff kindly moved us to a table closer to a heater, but it was still cold. The sushi is very fresh. I would say overall, the seasoning is a bit salty for me such as the Shiso salsa on the softshell crab, or the miso soup. It's a tiny bustling restaurant, full of people and chatter. This is not a place to have an intimate catch up dinner. I think it's best for sitting at the bar and having great food. The restaurant is slammed on any given day, so for the most part, the servers are great at trying their best to accommodate and make sure everyone's taken care of. The food is good, but a little bit pricey. There are comparable restaurants in the area that are lower the price.
First time dining at Matsuhisa having been to a few Nobu restaurants. A much simpler style venue. Personally would make sure to ask for inside seating when booking rather than the extended area outside. Our server was top quality, made some great recommendations and had a great sense of humour. Food was top quality!

This restaurant met our expectations completely. Friendly welcome, good atmosphere and wonderful food. The service was discreet but attentive and the menu extensive and completely delicious. When we are back in the area we will be back. Truly a wonderful experience

One of my favorite sushi places in LA! I love how close we are to sushi chefs at the bar, the energy of the place is so great, and the food and sushi is absolutely insane. Highly recommend!
The best sushi I’ve ever experienced hands down. We sat outside where it seemed understated and less formal. The meal itself was an experience that will live with me forever

Still holds up as the elite that is nobu matsuhisa. It is pricey as it gets but you will enjoy. Not flashy but just a classic look inside .
