Stopped by on impulse for lunch, cold and rainy day. Exterior nothing special in a very ordinary commercial street, but once inside, knew we had chosen well! Comfortable and welcoming ambiance; smiling, cheerful owner, and delicious appetising aromas, locals eating there, a good sign. Kir and Pineau for aperatif, came with tasty warm amuses-bouche. Then Confit of Duck for Jane and Sauerkraut Paysanne for me, a steaming heap of various sausages, salami, smoked pork, and the piquant cabbage, almost defeated me! This brassiere had incredibly large portions. We went there because we didn't want a large meal. What a surprise we had!!! I had a wurst dish with 3 varieties of wurst and a mountain of kraut. The others in our small group had a veal dish smothered in a sauce with mushrooms. The menu features dishes of various European countries.

The welcome is very cheery and service extremely efficient. The food is good quality simple fare, well served but uninspiring. Clearly a haunt of Saumur's more traditional types, it seemed quite popular with locals. We found it quite expensive.

Popped in for a drink at 7.30 on a Saturday evening. Not sure why French bars serve Heineken when they have excellent home made lagers but that's what we got. Huge place no atmosphere with a handful of people in dining area. Didn't stop to eat.

Had the menu of the day and a salad and all was very good prepared. Good and friendly service. Would certainly come here again.
