My experience at Max's left a lot to be desired.I was disappointed that they didn't have certain items shown on the menu. I.E. Potato Pancakes, Mushroom sauce for my Viener Schnitzel (which I had to eat dry). I asked them for a sharper knife to cut the very dry and tough veal, and the waiter said that they didn't have one. What? After I finished my meal, the waiter said I could have the pancakes in about ten minutes. I said OK, I would like to try them. They were terribIe--overcooked, dry and tasteless. I would not go back there again!
We live around the block and used to come to this place for a few years now. However last time we were here the food was horrible. We ordered chicken nuggets for our child which had burned out all life out of them, the wurst platter with two wurst tasted really stale, especially one with beer and cheese tasted like it was squeezed the life out of it too : We felt bad to complain and service was ok too. But the sides were also not as tasty as they were before. Definitely quality is lower now so we decided not to be back.
Very disappointed, I waited 30 minutes for my first beef bratwurst and it came out with sauerkraut, when I ordered red cabbage, then the second sausage came out. It was pork. I literally spent an hour here on one beer and one sandwich which was supposed to have sweet peppers. However, it was yellow green bell pepper. This is not a place I would recommend if you are a sausage enthusiast.
Max is a definite go to for great drinks and phenomenal food. Their beer selection is top notch, and everything I've tried on the menu has blown me away especially the beer and cheese sausage and the cucumber salad! If you haven't been yet, it's 100%worth it, they always come through

This was my first time eating here. The food is excellent and obviously they take great pride in their food, service and leaving their customers satisfied. I highly recommend if you are looking for authentic German food and the best German beer. Will definitely be coming back.
This blonde haired kid took our order but we waited for food and drink people next to us same thing not that many tables full I think he was angry because there was not any help I think you should get another job blonde haired curly waiter
I often go to this restaurant. The food is amazing. Quality vs. price is very well balanced and the staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely a must visit when in Astoria!
A new discovery for me and my friend. Just happened upon it when searching for German restaurants. Had some great brats and dark beers. Efficient service. Great location. Will return.
