Mellow Mushroom St. Louis

One of the best experiences I 've had eating out in St. Louis. Just walking into a restaurant that smells deeply of mushrooms is a blessing. Yum! I asked to sit outside--it was 50 and getting warmer--and got to sit in their beer garden, a heated indoor/outdoor area, with the doors open and a lovely breeze. Best of both worlds! I ordered the Enlightened Spinach Salad and the Magic Mushroom Soup. I have some dietary restrictions and it can be sad to have to say no to pizza, calzones, pretzels... But this soup and salad did not feel like a consolation prize! Really good food and excellent service. You do have to wait a while for the food, but that's fine if you're on a date and don't have anywhere to be for a while. It's a little pricey, but very good nonetheless. They take gluten dairy allergies very seriously and can make a pizza fully vegan and gluten free. The manager of this restaurant should be fired. We had a horrible experience with this restaurant last Saturday night. We ordered pizza's to go from the bar. After everyone around us was served who arrived after us, we asked where our pizza was. The bartender was great and apologetic but our order was placed behind all the in-house orders and we waited about 45 minutes longer than anyone else for our order. We told the manager what happened at the end. He was cooking pizza behind the counter. He wanted nothing to do with us and told us to get the f out of the restaurant. I’ve been going to MM since before it came to STL. I will say i’ve had better experiences at locations in other states. But it just seems like it’s a lack of staff. Other than that- the food and the people that are working there were so nice. Do expect a longer wait time as they cook all the stuff from scratch! (get the parmesan pretzels if you haven’t! Mellow Mushroom has always been a favorite of mine since they opened. Tonight I tried the Cloud 9 Wings which were flavorful to the last bite. Also went ahead and had the Beer of the Month from Voodoo Ranger Atomic Pumpkin . I have to say its not like most pumpkin beers that all taste mostly the same. Nice pumpkin flavor with a good kick of cinnamon spice. As far as pizza goes, I had the House Special minus the Funguy.... Definitely a good choice for pizza.

It's one of my favorite places to eat. I love Saint Shishatake pizza. The Spinat-Dip is also great. Many beer selection on Hahn. I usually sit at the bar, Austin is great. And he's very helpful, talky, friendly and doing great beer suggestions. Will definitely be back.
