Merci Fish&chips

After reading some reviews on where to eat in Sitges Merci was highlighted. Stumbled past it very close to where we were staying and decided to venture inside. A few steps down to a stone cellar painted brightly inside. All tables on the small terrace were full so seated inside. Although not particularly hungry chose a sharing platter and 2 mains. Good job we weren't hungry. You would definitely need to chose more sharing platters .. the most disappointing was my partners cod fish dish as a main. A small fillet in a tempura like batter with some chips on the side .. no garnish sauce or any other accompaniment. Had to ask for condiments. A lettuce leaf or a few peas or sauce would have lifted the dish ... mine was tasty .. stuffed peppers .. but more a starter dish than a main. Not much ambience to the place .. slightly lack lustre and underwhelmed I would say.

To begin with: we visit this restaurant always during our stay in Sitges, with great pleasure. However this time mmmmmm. We walked in and got a table outside on the stairs, great! Starters good! Wine good! We asked not to rush, enjoy our evening. But the cook had his own ideas/problems.. After only 1 minute finishing our starters, the main dish arrived…… with clearly no love in the dishes he made.. he went outside, have his relaxing moment..after the main arrived. The owner apologized, but clearly does not have control over whatever is happening in the kitchen… Sorry, we are not coming back anymore

This restaurant was the best out of all places we visited. Great food from start to finish. Service was excellent. They spoke English. My other half is gluten intolerant and lactose intolerant. They accommodated her needs, and gave her the best meal of our trip. Also, a fun little tradition that part of Spain regarding the peppers. They’re either hot or not hot. You don’t know. It’s the little gamble you may want to try. In our case, it was one hot, two neutral.

Used to visit this place often and had not been for a while Very poor service and had the fish and chips which was pretty awful Poor quality and over salted The seems to be a problem with the ventilation as we left the restaurant our clothes just smelled of the fried food Service was poor and would not go back

Fantastic restaurant, wonderful food, service and location! The crudités with homemade houmous was delicious as a starter, followed by fabulous feta salad. Beef tartare was amazing. Coca bread with tomato delicious! Highly recommended.
