Meson Madrid - Reserva de mesa

I last came here 13 years ago. Today I was driving back to NY and remembered Meson Madrid being this vibrant, energetic Spanish restaurant with to die for Clams in Green sauce (which I'd graciously dip the chips into back then). I couldn't help but call up to make a reservation and stop by. Check it: Ambience: 3 10 Place was dead. Run down, dirty, and nothing like it used to be. I didn't even need a reservation bc there were only 5 other tables seated around me at 8pm on a Friday evening. Service: 10 10. My waiter was energetic, and enthusiastic. He came to our table multiple times throughout our meal to check in on us. Kudos to him for making our experience so much better than it otherwise...

This restaurant was very deceiving and I guess because of Covid they had to get new owners but they don't know how to cook food and look at the pictures for example it was so oily like I just drank a gallon of oil. We paid $40 thinking we were going to have authentic Spanish food and what we got was a half ass food that you can make at home on a lazy day from the box we only got three pieces of shrimp a lot of chorizo that was soaked in oil and two scallops my chicken with the rice had no flavor and could not be digested I had to throw it back up my meal wasn't very pleasant and I hope they read this so they can correct the errors and return the restaurant back to the original owners vision...

Celebrated Father's Day yesterday at Meson Madrid. Been my go-to place for lobster probably since they had opened maybe in the 80's. Was always good food, efficient service and decent prices. Yesterday, arrived at 8pm. Place was far less busy then I ever remembered it to be. First I found myself angry at the awful experience we had. Then, I found myself a bit sad how downhill this place has gone. A big lobster is the reason we go to this place but the 4lb lobster reserved for me was gone with only 1lb lobsters there. Our waiter ignored us all night and food was served close to a full hour after our arrival. Manager, was on the premises is, but despite my insistence, would not come to our tab...

Didn't have the highest expectations for this place but still managed to let me down. It is a great place when you have a large group and looking for an easy reservation. I also saw various tour groups eating here. Makes sense. Service was good but the food and drinks were subpar. Doesn't really represent Spanish food that well. The red sangria was awful. I would have never guessed it was sangria if you blindfolded me and told me to taste it. The garlic clams were cold and rubbery. All the seafood such as the calamari, shrimp, scallops and clams were probably frozen. It did not taste like fresh seafood at all. The rice in the paella was mushy. I have been a patron of Meson Madrid for many years, and during my recent visit with my family, we all had a wonderful time. The lobster was delicious, but the grilled bread with shrimp was absolutely amazing. I am already craving it again. The clams were perfectly cooked and very fresh. The potato chips served as an appetizer were also quite tasty; I couldn't stop snacking on them even though I was saving room for the main course. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable, answering all of our questions. We requested our steak to be cooked medium, but it came out well done, possibly due to the chef having an off day or their seafood being their specialty. The desserts were a bit overpriced...

Red sangria was a tad sweet Bread was charred and couldve used some butter Chorizo was good Mozzarella sticks were OK and the sauce was on the runny side Ribeye steak and green beans were tender, cooked perfectly, seasoned well I didnt try the garlic lemon chicken Paella could use more seasoning, but the mussels and shrimp were fresh 4 stars because the steak was the star of the show. Id come back for the steak alo

The service and food were excellent at this restaurant. The wine list was impressive, with a variety of options from domestic wines to affordable and high-end selections from Spain. We tried some tapas, paella, and surf n turf, all of which were delicious. Even though I'm not usually a fan of steak, I found their steak to be particularly tasty. I'm looking forward to when they bring back fish entrees on the menu.

Overall the food is good. I would give 4 stars for this. The reason for 5 stars is because of the staff, especially the waiter. I'm not sure if he's the manager but this Korean guy deserves to be one if he's not. Very professional, friendly, attentive, and if I owned a restaurant, I would scout him. A+ Reserva una mesa ahora

This restaurant has a very pleasant atmosphere with a relaxed vibe. The staff are friendly and attentive. It has plenty of room for larger groups. I highly recommend this place if you are in the area.

Awesome place for lobsters. They have a special lobster combo deal on weekdays. It's my favorite lobster place in the area. The manager and staff are super nice, great customer service
