We found ourselves in Meson Meko by happenstance on a December lunchtime as we were in Turre to start a hike. We arrived at 1.30pm, just as their doors were opening and, although with no reservation, a friendly waiter showed us to a table for two. Half an hour later the restaurant was completely full so I 'd recommend reserving a table! We wanted to try the local 'inland ' traditional dishes so opted for a full ration of snails (caracoles) in their Meko sauce, 'poor potatoes ' (patatas a lo pobre) which are a bit like game chips, or thick crisps, homemade black pudding (Morcilla) and the local Pelotas (giant meatballs that are a mixture of bacon, sausage, black pudding, bell pepper, herbs and eggs in a rich Chickpea and white bean broth). The snails were exceptional their sauce, which you can buy in jars from them, was rich and tangy. Morcilla was lightly spiced and moist and the Pelotas light with the broth deep and rich. We finished by sharing a pudding de datiles which is a steamed date and nut cake. This one had been soaked in sherry but, though looking like a brick, was incredibly light. We washed this lot down with 2 beers each and my partner had a coffee. Total was 45 euros which we felt very reasonable. Our waiter was lovely, very friendly and helped us pronounce the dishes.

Just off the main road through Turre and only opening at 8.00pm we booked for dinner for 8.30pm and were alone for almost an hour when all the remaining tables in the lovely outside terrace part of the restaurant were suddenly full of locals. It wasn’t an issue, the atmosphere was excellent and we were not pestered at all as we took our time over dinner as usual. My partner enjoyed the black pudding starter and local Turre dish of Pelotas, giant meatballs in chick pea broth, which was superb, I ordered poorly and can’t wait to return to follow the locals’ lead of traditional tapas for the table which all looked great coming out of the kitchen, although we may avoid the snails which every other table ordered as one of their dishes. If you want traditional dishes do try this restaurant.

Love this place! It's pricey, but the food is always fantastic! Wait staff is pretty good too! I usually get like the smaller amount of ribs but like 4
