Well my favorite spots got shut down and I decided today was the day I’d finally order and it did not disappoint!!! I ordered the following : empanada de carne (beef), rellenos de papa (stuffed potato balls), a dessert guava and cheese empanada, the arroz con gandules (yellow rice and pigeon peas) with pernil (roasted pork) and the trifongo with pernil. This so-called restaurant exceeded expectations because it is so bad. I visited several months ago and had not dared to leave a comment. I thought the food was Dominican, but what's embarrassing is spending more than 70 dollars and ending up with a belly ache, without even having eaten half of a plate. Everything tastes strange and old, not to mention the supposed Chimi who had cardboard meat, and even the potatoes were stiff. Mofongo tastes like earth with garlic. In conclusion, get yourself someone who knows how to cook.
The restaurant has a nice ambiance, but unfortunately, the food was quite disappointing. The natural juice didn't taste good at all. We spent $95 and barely touched our meals. They really need to improve their service or provide better training for their staff. Also, the mofongo wasn't served in the pilón, which is a poor representation of the dish. Lastly, the rice with gandules looked lackluster; it resembled just plain yellow rice since the gandules were barely visible.
Hands down Best place to get you some good ol mangu at any time of the day.. except Tuesdays? but even their other food is good ?? ! U know it’s good if I leave a good review cuz I barely leave good reviews lol
