Mi Mexico - Reserva de mesa

Mi Mexico has been in Clive for a looong time now. I hadn't been there in years, since there are much more convenient options for me where I live. My favorite dining companion though, had never been. We visited for lunch. My dining companion settled on the Camarones a la Diabla, and I went with the lunch portion of chicken fajitas. You of course also get the customary chips and salsa. We always ask for the spicier salsa. Typically this is a roasted Salsa Rojo at most Mexican restaurants. In the case of MI Mexico, it was a roasted Salsa Verde...and boy was it good! Normally Verdes are a bit milder in heat, but not this one. It had a delightful level of heat. We ended up buying a to go portion...

I was greeted at the door and quickly seated at the bar. The bartender swiftly prepared a margarita, which was quite tasty. I requested spicy salsa, and they served me a green salsa that had a nice kick without being overwhelmingly hot. I also ordered the cheese dip, which I think had mushrooms in it. It was good, but not something I would go out of my way for. The combo fajitas were well-seasoned and enjoyable, but I would recommend skipping the shrimp and sticking with the beef and chicken instead. The corn tortillas were fresh and served hot. The service was decent and the place was clean. Wonderful patio seating! But... the food. It seemed like really cheap quality and so, so basic. The price was a little high for the lack of quality, but not outrageous. A good place to sip drinks and munch on nachos on the patio, but don't expect too much from the food.

This is a highly underrated Mexican restaurant in the DM area. The staff is friendly, the prices are reasonable, and the food is delicious. House margarita tasted like chemicals and served in a warm glass. To go nachos were over cooked, queso was grainy and chips tasted of old oil. I picked off some cheese and sour cream and enjoyed the pico (the only tasty thing) I would have been better off going to Chili's next door.

Staff-Fabulous, attentive and kind Food-Phenomenal! no Tex-mex style food here We LOVE Mi Mexico! When it 's not freezing out the patio is the best place to be!
