Mike's Tavern - Reservar una mesa

I've gone 3 times here and love the atmosphere and the quick friendly service. The 1st two times I tried the Shrimp and Grits and it was fantastic. So good that I got it again and it didn't disappoint. So I finally talked my boyfriend into trying it and we both got the Caprese Chicken again great fast friendly service but the meal was horrible. So bad that I couldn't eat it. My boyfriend switched plates with me and his was just as bad. The only things on it that didn't have a terrible taste was the wild rice and wilted spinach. I think we figured out what was bad about it after we got home and that was milk. I think it was spoiled and they didn't realize it. I do plan on going back and getting this same meal in a few weeks and trying it again. Sometimes things just happen. Fingers crossed that the next time I'll be blown away with it like their Shrimp and Grits. Oh and my friend got the Lobster Ravioli which she loved and the 2nd time got the Spinach and Kale Salad with Lobster which she also loved. So I feel it's worth another try. So that's why the 4 star and not 5.

We got the tavern shrimp appetizer and it was great, filling enough to be an entrée honestly...so good i almost didn 't get a picture before it was gone! I got the philly with onion rings and it was good too! The kids got mac-n-chz which was easy mac basically but for $6 i guess it was ok (they didn 't complain lol). My husband ordered the brisket nachos and we were a little disappointed with the fact that the brisket was tiny cubes rather than pulled or shredded and there wasn 't very many pieces either. We also shared the brownie for dessert (not pictured bc it was devoured) and it was super rich, soft, warm and yummy yum yum! Our server was nice but i did notice that another one of her tables ran her like crazy, which in turn took her from being more attentive to us. Overall we enjoyed it and will be back i am sure! We also learned that it is owned by the same mike that owns the hole in the wall near our house in red bank that we frequent and the smokehouse near st elmo that we also love! I guess it 's safe to say we are mike fans

Feel nice pub/bar grill. The staff was super friendly. The fried pimples are a MUST. My wife got the fish and chips and was super impressed. It's kind of hard to find a place to get it right sometimes, but loved what she got from here. I ordered the Gouda Marmeladeburger and was not disappointed. The savory flavors come along with a neat little bow as soon as you hit the bacon jam above. Juicy and cooked exactly as I asked. And if you get riders, pay the additional dollar for the garlic parmesan, it is worth it.

We had a party of 4 adults and 2 kids. All the adults ordered the fish and chips. They were amazing. Ask for some of their mustard it comes with the kids corn dogs) to mix in with the coleslaw. They also serve Malt Vin with their fish, and they had a side of remoulade sauce for some kick not to spicy). One of my kids got the Mac and cheese with wild rice. I forgot to take a picture but we also ordered the fried pickles! Highly recommended if your pregnant!

We sat fast. Had the best waitress, so the service was A1. We got our food fast and the shrimps were aaahhmaazzinngg! Let's go back next time!
