Militärkantine St.Gallen AG

Sunday is a day of rest, unfortunately also for some of the hospitality places, but not for the Militärkantine in Sankt Gallen. The place is fantastically located with a small park and outdoor seating, a kind of beer-garden. the old domineering building is lovingly restored with its ground floor converted into a beautiful bistro-cafe-like restaurant.The menu is different and at first glance small, but even at lunchtime you can choose from the excellent breakfast variations as well.Most striking is the relaxed and pleasant atmosphere owed to a very personable and likeable stafff. heard a lot about this restaurant and finally we got there for thursday lunch......we arrived circa and left circa ...by this very fact you can see we liked the place!......the food was very good indeed ....well presented ...we had the course menu.. with meat' ....(menu without meat is francs cheaper ....delicious indeed....a few beers to drink....locally brewed.... all in all a most enjoyable reunion ...especially the post prandial chat with staff members maya and claudia! ...will definitely return ...on a sunny day when we can take advantage of the terrace overlooking the park......and i expect we shall linger even longer over the beers.....

Based on previous reviews, this restaurant has really cleaned up its act. We stayed with our son at the hotel and had an outstanding diner there. The amount of choice was just right and just about every ingredient on the menu was local. Even the lamb. Service was fast and friendly, and multilingual of course (this is Switzerland.) And then everything we ate was great, with just the right twist on traditional dishes to make them interesting. With several vegetarian options to choose from, even meat-eaters like us got tempted. We like eating out and this is one we will remember.

inside a former old barracks, a hotel was created trying to maintain the walls and the original style, contaminating it with modern style furniture. The mix works and the result is definitely great, a large salon used both for meals inside and for the lobby and the bar, puts the guest at ease in a warm climate. I've been to this restaurant repeatedly and never disappoints. The service is excellent, the menu offers a menu with seasonal dishes perfectly cooked and presented. The price quality ratio is very good. The restaurant is quite spacious with high ceilings which makes it not very noisy. the terrace is huge and very pleasant in summer, with games and space for children.

have been here a few times to the dinner, this time to the brunch. dei kantine seems to me somehow familiary, although the spatialities are very hall-like, this feeling doesn't come up at all. you feel comfortable and like home. :

once and never again! are those who have a warning from the hospitality industry? eat cold, service very unfriendly, locality cold, .it just comes me nothing positive in the sense! unfortunately I cannot recommend this house!

Really busy and atmospheric place to enjoy a beer either inside or out. I have also dined here and the meal, especially the meat, was excellent.
