The atmosphere in this cozy little pub is delightful. It tends to attract a lot of students, which can be both a positive and a negative depending on your preference. One of the highlights for me is that they offer Thistly Cross, one of my favorite ciders, which is quite hard to find in other local pubs. While the bar does have a tip jar, I feel the bartenders could put in a bit more effort, as they mainly focus on serving the constant stream of patrons waiting at the bar. Overall, I would rate the service a 4 and the atmosphere a 5.
I believe the dining experience was enjoyable and reasonably priced. I ordered the fish and chips, which tasted fresh. The mixed grill was excellent, although the steak was cooked to "well-done" when we had requested it to be "medium rare." The cheesecake was also delicious. The staff was very friendly, which definitely added to the pleasant atmosphere for our night out. I would recommend this restaurant, but I suggest being cautious when ordering steak if you have specific cooking preferences.
I recently visited Molly Malone's for the first time during a trip to St. Andrews. After a quick game of golf and a stroll through the castle, I decided to stop in for a pint and was welcomed by the warm smiles of our bartender, Michael. Wow! Throughout my trip, I have never encountered such exceptional customer service. Even though I live a 12-hour flight away, I will definitely return regularly to experience the magic of Molly Malone's!
