Mom Pop Coffee Shop

A few weeks ago I placed an order for three breakfast sandwiches for my college kids which were made incorrectly. We did not realize they were made incorrectly until we were back on the road as we were going to eat them on the drive I called the store and asked to speak to a manager. They informed me that there wasn’t one available at the moment but that they would help me. The customer service on that phone call at that time was in my opinion pretty amazing because the girl that help me told me she would be put a note under my information since we go there around 3x a month, to have the correct order given to me whenever we were to come back free of charge I could not return that specific d...

Most importantly: this place serves ice cream/soft serve, and not just in pints! I was searching for that info in reviews before coming and couldn’t figure it out. Special shout out to the SUPER friendly employee and manager working Saturday afternoon (around 1) that I confused terribly by ordering two different things from two different people lol and they were so funny and cool about it. It’s been a while (sadly) since I’ve been somewhere where (1) the employees look like they’re having fun, (2) the employees seem to actually LIKE customers, as opposed to viewing them as a tragic inconvenience.Also, wasn’t overly crowded for a Saturday. Unfortunately this is no longer the mom pop whose food, coffee, service, and ambiance I fell in love with. Gone are the skilled baristas and the efficient and talented people preparing the food. They’ve all been replaced by untrained people who clearly do not want to be there. Also gone, are the delicious and high quality pastries and they’ve all been replaced by the cookie cutter run of the mill ones seen at many of the other cafes around NoVa.At first I thought all of this was a fluke, maybe a bad day. But I’ve tried several times after and it’s been worse each time. What a shame.

If you're looking for a fantastic breakfast sandwich or a good cup of coffee, this place is definitely worth a visit. However, if you're in the mood for tea or a tea latte, you might want to consider going elsewhere. The baristas forgot my chai order and took a break, and when they finally served me a chai latte, it was just iced milk with some cinnamon sprinkled on top. Honestly the best coffee shop I've ever been to. The staff are friendly and helpful, and although the menu is a bit pricey, it's worth every cent. The care they put into serving customers shows down to the latte art they create with every drink. My personal favorite menu item is the smoked salmon tartine, which Amber makes perfectly every time. They even have sundaes now too, which are a perfect treat for the warm weather. I can't recommend this establishment enough!

This charming little coffee shop has a lot to offer, but it unfortunately lacks a restroom. I also think it would be a nice touch to add some comfy seating. The staff was decent, though nothing particularly memorable. On a positive note, the coffee was excellent—I really enjoyed their cappuccino. I can't comment on the food since I haven't had a chance to try it yet.

My experience was quite disappointing. I waited a long time for a double espresso while the barista seemed more interested in chatting with her three friends than making coffee. I decided to give it another shot today, July 22, 2023, but it was still a letdown—the latte was cold and of very poor quality. This has been the worst coffee I've had here.

Interestingly if you order a large latte, it only comes with more milk, not more coffee. So you end up with a very large cup of milk. A venti iced latte at Starbucks gets 3 shots, I guess mom and pop is a little thrifty in this area, because I’m not so sure this one even had two. This is a decent little coffee shop with a great location in the heart of the Mosaic District. Although it can be somewhat pricey, the outdoor seating is quite pleasant. It's a nice spot to take a coffee break while shopping. Food rating: 3/5.

Great place for coffee. The baked goods are hit or miss. The Biscuits were delicious however.
