The butterfly museum was great! My sister and I took three very small children to visit the museum. After spending some time in there, The kids were all hungry and We were too. We walked into Monarch restaurant which is conveniently part of the museum. It looked nice, it was convenient and affordable. We have a four-month-old baby a one-year-old toddler and a five-year-old who were all very tired and hungry. We stood at the podium to be seated for over five minutes nobody even made eye contact to say we will be right with you . They just let us stand there with all these kids. Very disappointed in this place. We stopped here the day before Mother 's Day for a nice family outing with mom. We were greeted by a man who I 'm guessing is the manager saying you guys are killing me it was only 4 of us and we hadn 't asked for anything special. He warned us service would be slow because of a rush of diners. What a surprise! We were going to check out the butterflies, but wanted a bite first. We weren't expecting much, especially after being seated in the dated, slightly dingy dining room, but the friendly server more than made up for the atmosphere. We had a cup of clam chowder and we split a lobster roll. The lobster roll was really just a TON of lobster meat, barely dressed with mayo and zero filler! The server said since it was close to closing time, she told the cook to get rid of the lobster on our sandwich! It came with a side of excellent potato salad. This charming little cafeteria is a perfect stop during your visit to the butterfly museum. I tried the burger, and it was absolutely delicious. The establishment was very clean and offered two seating areas: one with a restaurant-style atmosphere and the other designed for a quick, grab-and-go experience. The staff was incredibly friendly and brought your food to the table once it was ready. The butterfly pictures adorning the walls created a lovely ambiance, making it feel like you were still immersed in the museum. If I return to this location, I will definitely be having another burger!

This restaurant has been around for quite some time, but unfortunately, it leaves much to be desired. While the Butterfly Museum itself is absolutely stunning and a delightful place to visit, the cafe and restaurant do not live up to the high standards of the museum. It’s a shame, as the cafe could be fantastic if managed more effectively and professionally. The staff often appear annoyed when customers try to place orders, coming across as rude and unfriendly. The food lacks flavor, and both the ambiance and cleanliness of the restaurant are in need of improvement.
I'm genuinely saddened to share that Monarchs restaurant closed its doors about six months ago. Before the closure, I reached out to Magic Wings to inquire about the reason behind the decision to shut down Monarchs. The gentleman I spoke with mentioned it was primarily due to a significant decline in business and difficulties in finding reliable staff. This is truly a sad loss for western Massachusetts. Monarchs will be fondly remembered and deeply missed. Thank you for the wonderful meals and cherished memories.
Stopped by with my son to eat lunch. Asked male server a couple of questions about menu... I wish I had not...very impatient...couldn't wait to get back to his tv. I felt like he would spit in my food had I asked him another question. Place wasn't busy, we were the only people to take the order from and another family was already leaving
We enjoyed breakfast at Monarchs Restaurant before heading to meet with the Post and Beam building company about our new shed that we're planning for this summer, along with Kevin Prior.
