Stayed at the Riverside Hotel and decided on our second night that we would just stay in and have dinner in the hotel restaurant....mistake. We arrived at 6.30 and were seated almost immediately which was a great sign however that's where the positive experience ends. After being seated we were given a jug of room temperature water which tasted odd and not offered any other drinks. Then began the wait although only two other tables were present at the time and one received their food not long after we arrived. The two male staff and the young girl who was telling people she's only new all bustled around the dining area but did very little to no interacting with customers and no one came back...

An all new menu with a great new team since November 2015 has seen the restaurant leap into the 2016 year with gusto. Breakfast from 6.30am to 10am of alacarte selections of Eggs Benedict, Bacon & Eggs, French Toast, Grinders Barista Coffee as well as a European Continental which includes ham, tomato, cheese, croissants, boiled eggs and the cereals and fruit.
Lunch is hopping with $12.50 selections including Fish Chips & Salad, Chicken Schnitzel Chips and salad with gravy, Vegetarian Stir Fry or the Riverside Beef Burger at $14.50 is amazing with the home made beef patties. Wednesday is $13.90 Schnitzel and Corona and lunch runs from 11am to 4.30pm.

As we were staying at the Riverside Hotel in order to attend a theatre performance at QPAC, my friend and I decided to have dinner early downstairs at the venue's restaurant Montague's. We shared an entry of a pizza bread with proscuitto on it and both felt it was delicious, and happened to choose the same main of pistachio-crumbed chicken breast served on roast vegetables. It, too, was delightful. The only thing I would have changed about the meal was if the accompanying roast vegetables had been hotter, as they were served semi-cold. Other than that, it was a lovely meal and the staff were attentive and helpful.
A modest unassuming venue with good old school food. We attended a reunion with a buffet meal attached - $30 for all you can eat roast chicken, pork, lamb and baked vegetables, followed by individual pavlovas with fresh whipped cream and fruit salad. The food of my childhood and totally enjoyable.
I felt sorry for people waiting for service as the front end staff were awol - a lot. 2 people doing room service deliveries, serving at the bar, leaving the till unattended, taking orders, etc - maybe employ more staff? Talk about security issues... Food on the other hand was yummy!

We had dinner at Montagues and enjoyed it. Although the food was pretty standard fare it was well prepared and tasty and the service very good. The price was quite reasonable.
Had a great dinner while staying at hotel for our wedding anniversary on the weekend. Food was tops.
